9 to 5 CD signing date?

They announced today that the CD release will now be on 7/28. Does anyone know if they are still having the signing event on the 14th without the CD? Since that doesn't make much sense, has anyone heard of a different event date?

I assume they will still have it because, obviously, the CDs are available. They are being sold at the theatre.

Do they generally allow people to bring already purchased CD's to have signed or do you need to buy them onsite?

It really seems to depend on the producing company. At the next to normal signing, the woman from sh-k-boom said to the Barnes and Noble staff it didn't matter as it WAS available ahead of time, so anyone with a CD was allowed "priority seating" regardless of where they had gotten it.

I've never been to a B&N signing but at Virgin I had brought a CD I'd purchased because I wanted it signed behind where the CD goes. I thought it would be easier to have it open before I got there rather than struggling with the plastic while going through line.

Anyway, I had to buy an additional CD in order to walk through the line. I'd imagine that B&N is the same. They have these events to generate money for the store. It doesn't do them any good if you bring your own CD and don't spend money there.

I went to Barnes and Noble for the Toxic Avenger performance/signing and if you bought a cd there, you got priority seating, then everyone after you, but if you already had the cd, you could still get it signed.

The only signing I've been to at B&N where you had to buy the CD right then was the Liza signing and that was because you got a bracelet to hold your place in line. For everything else I've bought the CD ahead of time and it wasn't a problem

Without bread we'd just be hungry but without theatre we'd be dead

So, do we know for a fact that the July 14th event is still taking place? And now that the CD wont be released till the 28th.. I assume Barnes and Noble would still be selling it at the event correct? Or should we get the CD from the theatre first..?

Barnes and Noble can't legally sell it until the release date. They may do what they did for the RENT movie CD signing. Which was when you purchased the CD you you got a giftcard for the price of CD and they gave out extra inserts to get signed.

I called them yesterday. They will be selling the CD on the 14th but just for that one day until the 28th.

It would be cool if Dolly were there but I would think they would have announced it to drum up more sales. I was on the B&N site and they don't have the signing listed. I'm going to call in a bit to make sure it is still today. I know they canceled the Rock of Ages performance at the last minute at J&R last week. I hope the date isn't changed as I came into work super early so I could leave in time to catch it.

its available on iTunes, but I'd rather have an actual copy... so I guess I won't be making my trip to Borders this afternoon

Hmmm thanks. When I went onto the main site and clicked on events I got some book signing or something that was 7:30 tonight but nothing about the cd. I must have messed up somehow. Glad to see it's still on!

You didn't miss anything cabchic. As of 6:45am today it was NOT listed. I was double checking the Jennifer Weiner book signing information as I'm going to that and was kind of surprised that the recording signing wasn't listed. They have added it onto their online calendar since then.
