Expect the official word early next week, but Janney has signed on, and the production will open spring 2009 after an out of town tryout next fall.

I thought they had been talking mid-2008. Or was I mistaken?
All of the principles from the most recent workshop were offered their roles in the full fledged production.
Of those seven, I know that Stephanie J. Block, Allison Janney and Megan Hilty have all signed on to continue with the show, and though I'm not sure about any of the others, I assume a majority of them will be back as well.
They are playing out of town in Los Angeles this fall, with the hopes of opening on Broadway in the spring of next year.
Oh please.... where in L.A.??? I can't wait for some official announcement.
I know Charlie Pollack has as well! 7 of the originals from the workshop have signed on.
Thesbijean - when was this offical update happening again?
This will be at The Ahmanson Theatre, in downtown LA.
I'm Ok with that if it's true. MORE than OK :)
... I just wish they would make this official already. (if it is please post a link)
is Andy Karl signing on??? Wasn't he at the workshop??

I sure hope Bebe signs on, but does anyone know if she has decent material in the show and/or a song?
So it;s for the Ahmanson for fall 2008? Great! I have a feeling they're gonna get Poppins, Spring Awakening, and Legally Blonde! Now I know where to buy!
I know there is a general dislike of musicals made from movies, but I'm really looking forward to this. It could only be beter if Dolly made an appearance!

I thought the play folded up years ago. I am glad its still in the works!
I'm really excited for this show, for some reason.
Can anyone tell me what Allison Janney's singing voice is like? I'm sorry, I just can't picture her singing.

^^^I've been trying to find that out since I first heard about the workshops (she sang a little once in TWW, I think, but I'd love to know more about her voice--especially as the original casting call had Violet as a coloratura!).
She can certainly lipsynch well ("The Jackal," anyone?) But yeah, she did sing snippets on The West Wing and sounded pretty good for offhand singing. LOVE HER.

I ADORE her, as well--the thought of Block and Janney on the same stage kinda makes my head go splodey.
Just--I would have pegged her for an alto or second soprano. Definitely not coloratura!

Great cast. I may have to plan a vacation around this. Parton is a superb songwriter.

Man, I wish I could get to LA for this. Instead, I will (im)patiently wait for it to get to NYC.
