We can't judge a production off of three photos... especially with ACL, where no picture will capture the greatness of the show.

During the first few years of the original production's run, some modifications were made so that the time of the show would continue to be "In this theater, NOW." At some point when the material really started to date and make no sense, they reverted all the "tweaks" back the original script and references and "froze" the show to be "In this theater, 1975."

Some "contemporary" shows are like that ... "Follies" has to be set around 1970 for the history to make sense, and "Company" shows its 70s roots as well.

I don't think anyone is judging the production off of the three photos however, it certainly stirs the feelings I personally have about this revival occurring and how it is being done. I will definitely be curious to see it.

I always thought Sheila's leotard was intended to give the impression that she was actually nude on stage... giving her a sense on vulnerability.

You have to hand it to Baayork. She's talent-lite but damn! She has made a whole glorious career out of her stint in ACL. Talk about having a job dominate your life.

Good for her, I guess. But I would hate to build my life around any particular job I've had...

Forget the costumes, what are they going to do with the orchestrations? The originals very much had a 1970's sound to them.

I say boost the 70s sound whenever possible. - I personally LOVE the "70's sound" ie. the Wah-Wah guitar pedal, the strong horn section, groove and funk. Mostly seen in the blaxploitation movies of the period and then crossing over into popular music and broadway. I love all of it. ^^

Heather, the copy at the library is missing part of the show and is in black and white. Furthermore, it was filmed when it was still at the Public, pre-Broadway.

what part of the show is the tape missing?



I also have a question on the PBS Broadway Special they had many great clips of ACL - but where is that raw footage? That should be the tape on record - assuming they filmed the whole thing.
