I tries to search these boards to see if there was any information of the books of A Chorus Line. Nothing came of it so I'll ask it here. What books about A Chorus Line are worth buying??
I already have The Longest Line but was wondering if there are any other books about ACL that I should try and find. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Not sure what's available or in print (try Amazon), but:
-- One Singular Sensation: The Michael Bennett Story by Kevin Kelly
-- A Chorus Line and the Musicals of Michael Bennett by Ken Mandelbaum
-- On the Line by Robert Viagas, Baayork Lee and Thommie Walsh (a great totally first hand account of the making of the show; it consists entirely of interviews with all the dancers)
-- What They Did for Love: The Untold Story Behind the Making of A Chorus Line by Denny Martin Flinn

Thanks!!
The On the Line book isn't available until Sept. 15 in paperback according to amazon.com The hardcover book is available but its $49 new. I think I'll wait for the paperback.
And I've heard that What They Did For Love: The Untold Story isn't available anymore. Should I look on ebay??

Posted: 5/8/06 at 3:28pmI thought that ON THE LINE was an incredible read--well worth whatever you spend on it (I got my copy on ebay a few years ago for next to nothing). My personal opinion on WHAT THEY DID FOR LOVE is to pass it up. It was ok but that's about it. Also found my copy of that on ebay (and it immediately went back to ebay as soon as I was finished reading it).

Always try www.abebooks.com which scans a whole lot of used book sites, and I bet all of these books are able to be had through that site.
Don't forget the script through Applause Books.

I loved loved loved On The Line. It was a wonderfully well written and fascinating first hand account of the creation of the show, and I, like Margo, recommend it highly.
I've also read What They Did For Love, and it seemed kind of tabloidy to me. It focused too much on the down and dirty stories and not enough on the bigger picture. On The Line manages to find a nice balance.
