I'm looking forward to seeing this.

Actually BrodyFosse, we've been talking about this documentary going all the back to the pre-Broadway San Francisco tryouts, a year BEFORE the thread you linked:
https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.cfm?boardname=bway&thread=897898
But this is the first specific info to come out that it actually has a distributor and concrete plans to hit theaters at some point.
So THIS info hasn't been "already discussed."

What's the intended release date?

That doesn't appear to have been announced yet.
I hope they are able to unlock the Bennett Vault.
Any footage of the original company will make this boy very happy.

There is a tape of the entire show with the original Broadway cast from 1975 from when the show was still at the Newman at The Public. And of course the audio tapes of the original sessions are locked in a vault somewhere in town. Not sure if there's any rehearsal or worshop footage though -- hope there is. With Breglio in charge, they should be able to use whatever's available (assuming releases with the original cast members can be negotiated).
I hope they do a small segment on the rigged lottery, how the fanboys blindly defended it and how, in the end, it was our own Fenchurch who smeared the sidewalk in front of the Schoenfeld with pitch and singlehandedly dealt the blow that fell the ogre.
And maybe they'll show a clip of Michael Berresse on his cell in the stairwell?
arscallion---THAT I would pay big bucks to see.
Thanks for the info, Margo! My only hope is that this documentary doesn't turn into an info-mercial to trick-sell a viewing audience on the revival and its national tour(s).
I have a (depressed) feeling it will be less about the genesis of the show, focusing on the original cast and creative teams unusual efforts, and more about, "Don't you want to go see A Chorus Line today? Now? This minute? Look how good the revival is!"
Hopefully, they'll be more artistic and less hard-sell about it. But I already have my doubts.
yeah Margo, I *whispers* have that vid.
But I, like most, hope rehearsal and workshop footage exists.
This could prove to be interesting.
How exciting. Do we have any ballpark idea when it'll be out?

Seeing as how the original cast was treated with the rights and shares of the revivial, it doesn't seem like they'd be too easily persuaded to sign contracts for this. I can't wait, though.

I love to see it
Great news yes for any ACL lover but dont expect to see this for 18 months or so.
Very exciting Margo, thanks for posting this.
I'm not a huge Chorus Line fan, but I'm definitely up for a documentary! Exciting!
artscallion- my thoughts exactly. It was Michael, with the blackberry, on the staircase!
A real behind the scenes documentary. Add our poster friend sneering at him and that could be the next successful advertising promotion of the year! You can get Depends to sponser the televised version.
" A Chorus Line, so riveting, you may pee your pants!"
Built in sponsership is truly a wonderful thing.
I'm just teasing but he was funny without really trying to be with that comment.
