Glad to hear that the understudies are in good shape re: A Chorus Line of WONDERFUL Understudies!

How was the opening "callback" number with the smaller group of "rejects"? Are you familiar with the script enough to notice any major changes in the opening dialogue?

Glad you enjoyed the show re: A Chorus Line of WONDERFUL Understudies!

I am a huge Charlotte fan. That said, she has always been known for her dancing/acting THEN her singing re: A Chorus Line of WONDERFUL Understudies!

Yuka is still out? Poor dear, I hope she recovers soon.

By the way, did anyone see the piece Katie Curic did on Jessica (Val) last night?

I saw the understudies for Connie and Richie last Monday when I went. If Yuka is going to be out for an extended period of time, I'm surprised they didn't hire another Asian actress to fill in or at least have one in a swing capacity. The role is utterly forgetable when they change Connie's story line. It didn't work for me at all. E. Clayton Cornelius on the other hand was absolutely wonderful as Richie!!

There have always been alternative lines for a non-Asian Connie, just as there are for a not so tall or skinny Judy, and others.

Bwaystar2b, two "rejects" are sometimes combined into one character when more than one understudy goes on. Tom, say, will also wear the headband. Generally speaking, the script isn't much affected by this - the lines are still spoken. The biggest difference is that sometimes the auditioners will dance in groups of three rather than four.

I saw the understudy for Connie as well! It's interesting how they changed her lines. I found it very marvalous.

Oh yesw- I saw an understudy for Kristine. Her name escapes me now, but she was absolutely DREADFUL! "Sing!" was a Jr. High...or lower rendition, and the woman had obviously put no thought whatso ever in the character. It actually managed to ruin the entire show for me.

I totally agree with Dottie about the non-Asian Connie, the character that's left is totally non-existant.

I saw E. Cornelius and he was AMAZING. (PS, totally didn't realize he was the guy in the new Radio Shack adverts.)

And yes, Katurian, I know what you mean about that Kristine. The show came to a total standstill during Sing, and the audience responded in kind.

It was probably Lyndy Franklyn. She's supposed to be the main u/s for Kristine.

And in regards to Yuka, if the director knows she'll only be out for 4-6 weeks, there's no need to go out and find another asian for the part(which is the likely story). However, if it's an injury that's going to last 2-3 months, then they should find someone to replace her.

I saw the understudy for Diana the first time and she was amazing.

The second time I saw the undertsudies for Connie, she was good-nothing special. As well as the understudy for Bebe who was so dreadful that I have no idea how she ever thought she could pursue musical theater as a career besides being put into any show ever.

Just so everyone knows:

Michelle Aravena is the main u/s for Connie, Maggie, Diana & Bebe. Pamela Fabello is the main u/s for Sheila & Judy. Nadine Isenegger is the main u/s for Cassie & Val. Lyndy Franklyn is the main u/s for Kristine.

Give em a break. They just worked a crazy week of Ellen show, Thanksgiving parade, plus their regular number of weekly shows. And it is just about cold and flu season!

Not totally into Baum as Bobby. I would love to see Cornelius as Richie soon.

I miss Yuka. I think they are looking into possibly finding a replacement Asian woman.
