The Harry Connick Jr musical slated for a Boston run. On the way to Broadway has been pulled from the 2008 schedule.
It always seems to happen to us in Boston. I was looking forward to this. joe
Here's a thread with a link to the article.

This is too bad. I was looking forward to seeing this too.
I hope they replace it with something and don't just leave the space empty.
Thanks Taz, Broadway Across Amercia-Boston told us subscribers in Boston "offically postponed".
I am sure it will be replaced by something equally as "thrilling".
I'd like to see Jersey Boys
but I doubt it will take the spot.

Nice Work If You Can Get It," the Harry Connick Jr., musical slated for a Boston run on the way to Broadway, has been pulled from the 2008 schedule.
Broadway Across America-Boston president Drew Murphy sent a letter this week telling subscribers that the show, scheduled to open in December, has been "officially postponed" with no new date yet scheduled. Drawing from the George Gershwin songbook, the musical was set to reunite Connick with director-choreographer Kathleen Marshall, who directed him in a much-praised 2006 revival of "The Pajama Game" in New York.
The postponement came after Marshall dropped out of the project. Murphy, who said the organization would be in touch with subscribers when new Boston dates are scheduled, said other directors had expressed interest in overseeing the show. "It just takes time to work out the details," he said.

NOOOOOOO...!
They had better put something new there, and not a return engagement. "Phantom..." was just here three years ago. Not that time is an issue for anyone here...I mean, look at "Wicked."
I hope this is cleared up soon.
I just read the article...so they're actually postponing this? With a new director?
I can't decide if I'd rather a new production altogether, or a second-choice (maybe second-rate) director suddenly taking charge. I mean, I hope they don't make any sacrifices just to quickly get this particular show on the road.
I hope the announcement will come soon with new dates or with a replacement show.
You guys know that we still have TWO TRY-OUTS this season:
1. Brigadoon (Revival) at Colonial on October 14- Nov 9, 2008
2. The Story of My Life (New Musical) -well in CT (Goodspeed) ~ 2 hours drive from Boston on October 10- Nov 2.
I hope we get Marc Shaiman's CATCH ME IF YOU CAN! I dont mean to sound anything, but I hope not WICKED again! I would like to think that Bostonians DESERVE better than that! It was shown here already 3 Times and I did not SEE on all three. I saw in on Broadway (2004) and Los Angeles (2006) and that was ENOUGH for me! I was hoping for AUGUST : OSAGE COUNTY or at least JERSEY BOYS!

Jay, You failed to mention Dirty Dancing. Also hoping August will come this way as a replacement.
Joe- I dont think DIRTY DANCING is a try-out? I ts just a touring company like MY FAIR LADY that has not announced any Broadway plans.
edit; btw-remember we have plans to see BRIGADOON together! well invite more bww boston posters for a get-together (like your original plan)... I say first weekend: Oct. 18 (saturday) perhaps?

Jay, That works fine for me. I'm really looking forward to that.
I know millie_dillmount is always game and melodyrose (but she never post) we should invite folkyboy, TheActr971 & Glory (who's going to school at Boston Conservatory)
There's not a lot of Bostonian posters who are willing for get-together, unlike NYC posters~they are always game! that's why i think I have more NYC posters friends here than in my hometown!
BWW Bostonian posters are dud(s)!
Unlike New Yorkers!~that's why I LOVE THEM!

I agree the passion for theatre in NY. And on these boards, makes Boston look sad. Hopefully some will trek up to Boston for this.
But we compete with NYC, when it comes to sports!!!!!
GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!
