While the show may not be getting the audiences it was with CZJ/Lansbury, the house on Saturday night was mostly full. It did help, though, that the people who were there were totally in support of the cast and the show. It was probably the most responsive audience I've ever been in on Broadway. And they also just raised their discount price by $10, which may mean they are doing better than they initially thought they would.

"Because Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch do not sell tickets like Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury. It's sad, but true.
I don't think it's even really that sad. I mean they are both bigger stars, it's expected.
I'm not sure if it's not the *only reason* though. If Peters and Stritch opened the show, I would imagine the grosses would have been higher than 6 months into the run, because there would have been the people that hadn't seen the show that still would have gone without CZJ/Lansbury etc..
Oh, and why anyone would ever fall in love with Ramona :P:
She looks AMAZING. (I guess it goes against the "when my eyes are not open" thing, but maybe Fredrick doesn't have as much insight of why he loves as he thinks he does)
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
It isn't a matter of Ramona Mallory looking amazing. It is a matter of the character she plays coming off like an ill-mannered spoiled rotten immature frigid little bitch. There's a difference.

Here is my review of the incomparable Bernadette Peters' performance in Night Music. I saw the show this past Sunday and was completely enamored with her.
Its a full (or almost full house) almost every day. But you can always get rush tickets (if your a student) if u get there at 9:20 for a 10 am box office opening. That line is never really that bad. But if your worried about crowds at the show itself..its a small theater and even when its full its just great.

Bellatrix...keep in mind that the show is a matinée the day of the flea market so there is also the chance that a lot of people who usually rush for shows may choose not to that day in order to spend more time at the flea market.
