re: A Lyrical Conversation: Jason Robert Brown

Some people can't get success with their art
Some people never feel love in their heart
Some people can't tell the two things apart
But I keep rolling on
When dame fortune tosses me a curve, I never give away to despair, I hang on with every little nerve, trying to keep my balance as I dangle in air.

Handful after handful of Dorito's
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

"If you've got a four leaf clover,
You could make my dreams come true!
I will be your Hebrew slave-
Just do the things that Irish girls do.
Talk about potato famines-
I begin to cry on cue!
Sing about the Emerald Island,
Get your Irish eyes a- smilin',
I could be in love with someone like you."

But then the earthquake hits
And the bank closes in
Then you realize you didn't know anything
Nobody told you the best way to steer
When the wind starts to blow

Here come the waves, here comes the ocean- how to decide?
What's there to risk? Why is the course unclear?
Practical fact, foolish emotion, terrible pride
What's there to fear? Take me from here!
And I will follow. Anywhere.
I will follow. And you will lead me there.
