Lovin' this thread. It's going to continue to spiral downward until everyone who claims to dislike all the snark and nastiness ends up becoming just as nasty in their criticism.

I have never understood why people take this stuff so seriously. If there is a post or poster you really don't like scroll past it. I must have scrolled past about 100 of kyle4's posts in the WOV thread.

Like anything that is public (and free) you take the good and the bad. The only one who can cause your panties to become twisted is you.

And for the overly sensitive I will clarify and say I am referring to the collective you, not someone in particular.


And for those of you who don't visit the OT board, you haven't even seen nastiness. Some of the trolls that pop over there would be really infuriating if they weren't so inept.

If you're trying to say that AEA sent you a nasty PM then come out and say so. They haven't even posted in this thread and you bring them up out of the blue. If they didn't then please stop singling out a poster who isn't even here. And even if they did I don't care. But this dancing around is crazy.

Such is the reality of message boards in general! It won't change unless the board switches to being moderated. Which would be fine by me. Life marches on either way!

I guess I'm one of the few who think the site is moderated just fine. They do delete things. But it's a slippery slope. It could easily become overly censored and that's not their intention.

It always comes down to whether you disagree with someone's opposing opinion or don't like the manner in which certain people express themselves. But neither of those are reasons for deletion.

When things devolve into personal attacks (as happened at one point last week in the thread about people seeing n2n multiple times) I notice that those posts are deleted. As they should be.

It's always easy to blame the mods, but as I said earlier this is a public forum. And it's free. Of course there is room for improvement but as I said earlier, if you let someone else's comments bother you that much it's probably time to step back and reassess how seriously you take this place.

Or you could always choose to simply not visit as many people have. But ultimately what you get out of this board, whether good or bad, is up to you. Not the mods.

I don't pay enough attention to what gets deleted (or moderated) versus what doesn't (too many other things to do in life!), so I am far from an expert on the extent that things are currently being moderated on this message board (if at all). My comment was meant in general. It's not clear to me whether you thought I was "blaming the mods", or whether you yourself were making a genral comment. If you thought I was, that's an incorrect conclusion.

And I totally agree with your statement: "if you let someone else's comments bother you that much it's probably time to step back and reassess how seriously you take this place."

I agree with everything you said HummingAlong. I wish more posts on here had a more positive tone. I like reading about people enjoying shows and actors even if they aren't my taste. It's fun to partake in other people's excitement. I find it is funny that people get bashed for enjoying a show that someone else deems awful. We are all different. We all enjoy different things. And we should be allowed express how we feel without the fear of getting bullied.

I don't think this board is ever going to be a happy friendly place to be but I think if people make an effort to start more positive topics and not partake in the negativity I think that would be fantastic.
