I LOVE A New Brain. It's a wonderful musical! One of my favorites, with SO many good songs. It shouldn't be too difficult to find..I know it is on amazon.com and in most music stores that I have been in. Get it..you won't regret it!

Did someone order scallopini?
It's worth it alone for "Sailing" and "Poor, Unsuccessful, and Fat."
Definitely buy it right away.

YES! It took a while for me to get into it. I didnt really care for Falsettos or March of Falsettos, but I can't stop listening to this CD, its so good. Def. buy it.
EDIT: Is this a sung through musical? It doenst seem like it. But the book must be pretty small or else it's a really long musical? Someone whose seen a production care to explain?

"Your sister is a whore!
My sister is a RECEPTIONIST!"
Major props for A New Brain. Heading to Chicago on the 22nd for a Finn-tensive weekend of theatre--"new brain" and "elegies" at the Porchlight Theatre.

this isn't really a question... buy it! now!
to answer someone's question, yes, it is a sung-through musical... there are a couple pieces of the show missing from the cd, but almost all of the whole show is on there.

Posted: 5/8/05 at 9:36amDo not hesitate - but it! The score is stunning. And then, if you don't already have them, go buy anything by William Finn. Musical theatre songwriting does not get much better than William Finn.

They have it on itunes music store...
and...
I LOVE A NEW BRAIN. I think my favorite line of all time from a musical is "I love mr. Bungee! Yes in deede (sp?) here's your ziti!"

Posted: 5/8/05 at 12:51pmIt is a great CD... but I find it hard to really love all the music. There are only a few songs you can actually listen to over and over again, and don't get me wrong..some of it is absolutely beautiful (i can listen to the last 5 tracks forever), but again - like this entire board - to each his own. And some people will like it more than othero. The story is an interesting one, though.

Great score, but a flawed show. I saw it at Lincoln Center and it's currently being done here in Chicago. It's got some wonderful songs, but I find it sort of drags after a while. Plus the plot line involving the mother seems to me to be a bit random-- things happen just so she can sing another song about it.
Mary Testa was WONDERFUL as the homeless woman by the way!
