#1A Really Random Question About Noises Off
Posted: 4/7/09 at 10:29pm

Hey,
I am designing the set for the play "Noises Off" (this is just for a project; not for an actual production) and I don't have access to the script at this moment. If anyone has been in the production or seen it before, I need to know how many doors are called for on the set. I think there are eight, but I am not sure.

I would greatly appreciate any help (and if you know of an online script I can download, that would be even better!)

Thanks in advance!! (and sorry for the really specific and random question)

My recollection is six doors (three up, three down) plus the window that Selsden uses for his entrance. Caveat: I've seen the movie several times, so if the movie differs from the stage, my recollection may be skewed by the film.

I know that there are at least 4 doors downstairs (kitchen, front door, study, and library maybe??) and then up stairs there is the bathroom, closet, bedroom, and I think something else.

I was the technical director of this show when I was an undergrad and our production used 7 doors. 3 on the first level (one was the front door) and four upstairs. Plus the window on the first floor.

However, it is to be noted we did the show in a space that was only 13.5 feet tall (small black box theater), which made two levels slightly complicated for our set designer :).

My high school did Noises Off last year, and we have HQ pictures of the production on our website... I don't think there's one picture that shows the set in its entirety, but you can scroll through and piece it together!

re: A Really Random Question About Noises Off

Downstairs left to right - Housekeeper quarters, front door, window, study, downstairs bathroom

Upstairs left to right - bathroom, closet, bedroom, attic (we used a curtain instead of a door)

This was a production I was in last May. SO much fun!
