Thanks in advance :) And yes, I understand that if we don't want to know what's going on we probably shouldn't check the site. But it doesn't have to be that way if we just label our threads. :)

This is a reasonable plea. I won't be starting any threads, though. I hope everyone does not ruin it for you guys!

definitely a good idea. i'm an eastcoaster, but i probably won't be starting any threads, either. i'll try to keep this bumped for you guys.

I echo this sentiment, as I am in the Mountain time zone. Thanks!

It's reasonable, especially tonight. I'm staying AWAY from the internet from 5:00 p.m.-bedtime.
Am in the Mountain Time zone also. But won't be online during the show.

I think it's a ridiculous plea, personally, for the reason even you stated. If you don't want to know who is winning the Tony Awards, then it's probably not a good idea to go anywhere NEAR a Broadway website during the ceremony. I mean, isn't that common sense? The main subject at hand during the Tony Awards IS the Tony Awards. Do you really need to come in here and discuss some other Bway related topic during the ceremony? It just doesn't make sense to me. It's a pet peeve I have with people on all kinds of message boards. I don't understand the concept of "okay... I'm coming in here on my own free will but please don't tell me anything."

Sigh...and we were all getting along so nicely.

people are welcome to talk about it all they want -- i agree that they should, and will, because this is a broadway website. but it is reasonable to ask that people don't broadcast winners on the thread title.

It's not a terrible idea but I'll be intersted to see what happens.
PS, find someone who has the dish and watch the east coast feed.
It's a good idea but you know it's not going to happen.
You know someone is going to do it just to be obnoxious. What would be nice is if people like Jose or CJR or even Craig and Rob who might be wathcing with their computers around.. just go along deleating those obnoxious threads.
"but it is reasonable to ask that people don't broadcast winners on the thread title. "
That's pretty much all I'm asking. I don't think it's too hard. For example, you can title something "The Best Musical Speech" OR be obnoxious and title it "Spamalot's acceptance speech for Best Musical". I think we can handle that. I have faith! :)

This is like asking people not to talk about the Super Bowl on a football website while the game is taking place or for hours after it ends. The cats will be let out of the bag around here in short order when the awards start being given out. You may as well stay away from TV and radio as well because you might get some kind of report about the Tonys.
Unfortunate for West Coasters, but reality. Better to stay away from the site.
Ok, apparantly people are misunderstanding me. I'm not asking to NOT talk about it. I'm just saying please be a little discreet with the titles for three freakin' hours. Sheesh. After that change the titles to whatever you want.

Popular - as much as it might be a logical (even reasonable) request, the fact remains it will be your own responsibility for whether or not you have the experience spoiled. If your priority is to keep the experience intact for yourself, then make the appropriate choices that YOU are in control of to ensure it.
I wish they'd go back to PBS instead of the internet coverage. It would be much easier to not accidentally run accross something. Don't worry, I'm fully aware that I can choose where to look or not look. It wasn't necessarily a personal request, as you can read there are others that would like this courtesy extended to them as well.

See, I think the problem is that you're asking US to solve your problem when YOU are perfectly capable of solving your problem. If you come on to a Broadway website during the Tonys, you are basically asking to find out who won. It's like you don't want to know what you got for Christmas but you're gonna peek into your parents' closet and hope they've already wrapped them so that you won't ruin the surprise. I'm, c'mon already. And how are you going to prevent an unknowing friend from IMing you out of the blue? I think it's ridiculous. And it has nothing to do with whether or not we're "getting along so nicely." Here on a message board, we can have different opinions and different pet peeves and still get along. I have nothing against you personally. I have a problem with the practice of asking others to prevent you from finding out something when one is PERFECTLY CAPABLE of preventing THEMSELVES from finding out. The Tonys are only three hours long. Do you REALLY have NOTHING ELSE to do? Is someone holding a gun to your head and forcing you to hang out on the internet? ANd is the BWayWorld website the only website that works on your computer? That's what I think.

I totally hear ya! I'm taping them and watching them tomorrow so please, say SPOILER on it!
I sense hostility in this thread.
I think you all need to be bitch slapped.

Wow, I didn't think this would be so touchy. I too have to tape the show because I have to work tonight, and so I will be staying away from BWW altogether. I don't think it's an unreasonable request, however. All you have to do is pay attention to how you title your threads. Maybe early in the broadcast, someone on the west coast would like to discuss something, but they get on and see the winner for best musical. It kind of ruins it. I understand the other side too, but I think that as a courtesy, it's a nice thing to do. I don't think Popular (or others) will freak out if you do, but just think twice, and it doesn't require that much effort, so be kind. Now in terms of people having to watch it tomorrow (myself included), I think we're just out of luck. I say by the time it's over on the west coast, it's fair game. Like I said, I'm staying away until I've watched.
I won't have to worry about this as I'll be in San Bernardino seeing Footloose--The Musical and will watch my tape as soon as I get home. But I do think the best advice is simply don't go online between 5 and 8 PDT, because there's bound to be news about who's winning pretty much everywhere you go, including possibly as soon as you log on to BWW.com.
Aww, i understand how you feel popular, im a westcoaster too so im gonna stay away from here until after the show. people might get excited or something and post something and forget to write spoiler on it. dont worry, though, we can play Parcheesi till the show comes on! lol.
