I was in the orchestra last night with two friends and we all thought this was awesome. Jude Law is giving an extraordinary performance and one i will remember for the rest of my life. It looks amazing and the acting around him is just brilliant. I've never seen a Shakespeare play that is so clear and defined. It just seems to be all happening as you watch it and we become helpless onlookers as the show goes on. So amazing. The people around us were totally rapt, as were we! I can't speak for the back of the mezzanine but we got student rush tickets and all felt that we had seen a truly great evening of theater. Woken up this morning and every image is still buzzing in my head. It was so beautiful to look at. Full of high shafts of light and amazing clothes! Will be coming back into the city to try and catch this again.
When did you turn up to get student rush tickets? I was there when the box office opened and got 6th row mezzanine for last night which were pretty good seats as well.
Remember when shills used to at least TRY to make it look like they weren't shills?
Regardless, I'll be at HAMLET tonight. I saw Sienna Miller last night and I'm moving on to Jude Law tonight. Interesting.
Was this your first Hamlet? Never mind, you've still time, I'm sure a decent one will come along again in a couple of years.

And to think that rdove joined just to share this bit of information with us makes me all gooey inside!
I saw the show last night as well, and while I wouldn't call it AMAZING (the direction is great in a few parts and REALLY bad in others) some of the acting is great, and Jude Law is giving an INCREDIBLE performance (I was expecting him to be the weak link).
I suggest this show for anyone who wants to see a great example of a star performance, but go in knowing that the production, while beautiful, is not the best Hamlet in the world.

What is the stage door there like? What was Jude Law like, did he stop and sign and take pictures with people?
The atmosphere at the stage door is insane, but if you have seen the show it actually isn't that bad. You show your ticket to a theater employee and he lets you in a separate "pen" and right before Jud Law comes out he extends the pen, so even if you are a little further back you will get close, stay on the building side of the pen if you want to move further up.
He signs, but will not pose for pictures.

You don't have to be a shill to be blown away by anything Michael Grandage puts
on the stage--and I think this was one of his pieces.
The guy is the best working director for the stage today.
Almost everyone who saw his take on Schiller's "Don Carlos" with Derek Jacobi marksit as one of the most thrilling theatrical experiences of their lives.
I did see "Don Carlos" and you're right: I was blown away by it.
Looking forward to "Hamlet" in a few weeks.

I'm just hoping this HAMLET doesn't become an "omlette".
