A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE closes today

Ivo Van Hove's brilliant production of Arthur Miller's classic play plays it's last performance tonight. I ADORED this production, as did the critics, but it neer really caught on box office wise. Is anyone going to the closing performance/ Did you like this production? Think it'll be remembered come Tony time?

Saw it for the second time today, this time from a front row onstage seat. The cast and the production remains as pitch perfect as my first go around. Two hours just flew by. Loved being so close to see the nuances in the movement and facial expressions.

Went again last night and had the worst experience ever. I think the hospital was giving out free tickets. It felt like a surround-sound coughing experience. LITERALLY no more than 10 seconds would pass before another outburst of people coughing. Stay home if you're sick. It ruined the show.

I went last week and had a very similar experience. I couldn't believe how frequently coughing was occurring. Granted, I understand sometimes it is hard to avoid but I think in most cases it can be subdued.

Also, the night I saw it, we had a phone go off (which has become a common thing now it seems) but the worst offense for me was this girl sitting behind us who was stifling laughs at the production and then when it got to the chilling ending with the blood, she audibly started laughing almost like she WANTED to call attention to herself. It was quite possibly one of if not THE worst things I've seen an audience member do.

As for the show itself, I was definitely grateful I got to see it and felt it was an intense and thrilling evening. I especially hope Mark Strong is remembered come Tony time.

Welcome to the theater.

As much as directors want to get people more involved, it might be advisable to stop on stage seating. If not, you will continue to have behavior like this. It is unfair to both the rest of the audience and the actors.

And I was in 4th row orch. None of the bad behavior was coming from the stage seats when I was there. Everyone onstage was very engaged.

aj88, were you onstage?

I went on Tuesday and had a very good experience. No one was annoying, no one really coughed, and only one cell phone mildly went off from someone in the orchestra, but there's always going to be at least one offender. Not a bad time when I went.

No. I was actually in the in the first row of the orchestra and the girl in question was sitting in the row behind me. I could be wrong but because of the music playing during the moment, I doubt the actors or onstage audience members even heard her.
