40/41 Houses Full

Mar 26, 2026 — 2:05:28 AM

When Schmigadoon! begins previews on April 4th, 40 of 41 Broadway theaters will have shows. When The Lost Boys opens on April 26th, there will be 40 productions running simultaneously. Is this a first? Now that the Hudson Theatre is back in operation and there are 41 eligible venues, I don’t recall a time when 40 shows were running at once. I’m sure it’s happened before, but not in my memory.Once Every Brilliant Thing closes on May 24th, that won’t be the case, but for about a month, Broadway w...

A Look Back at the 10 Longest Running Plays on Broadway History

Mar 15, 2026 — 3:59:56 PM

https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/What-Are-Broadways-Longest-Running-Plays-20260315Great article. Other than Harry Potter... no other plays in the top ten premiered post 1970s. I was curious what the longest running plays from 1980 to now are. I did some research and here is what I found:1. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, 2018 - 2,540 (as of 03/08/26)2. Brighton Beach Memoirs, 1983 - 1,2993. Torch Song Trilogy, 1982 - 1,2304. Amadeus, 1980 - 1,1815. Proof, 2000 - 9176. I'm Not Rappapor...

CoffeeBreak summed up my thoughts 100%. Wanted to like this a lot. Was cliche. There were multiple moments when my friend and I cringed. 100% predictable. No chemistry.

I believe this just adds to the argument that a 600-800 person flex space on Broadway would be beneficial. Some magic combination of St. Anns, TFANA, and the Armory. It wonder how it would have worked it they would have carved out space for something like this in The Torch, with an entrance on 46th St.?

Best New Musical and Best New Play of the DECADE (So Far?)

Nov 24, 2024 — 4:36:27 PM

Disclaimer: big Branden Jacobs-Jenkins fan here.My favorite two plays have been The Comeuppance (Signature) and Purpose (Steppenwolf).I'm really excited to see Purpose in New York. @TotallyEffed - I don't want to be presumptuous and assume you haven't seen it, but if you haven't, it's giving August Osage County vibes. If you have, what did you think?Oh, Mary! is also one of the best comedies written in quite some time. For best musical, Strange Loop, or Here We Are. Can't decide.

Sweeney – Reviews

Was anyone at this afternoon's performance and notice a set piece malfunction? Click Here To Toggle Spoiler ContentDid the box delivering Sweeney's new chair at the top of Act II break? It seems like the wire broke off the crane when lifting the box off of the chair once the chair was set in place.

JSquared2 - another great idea to think about!! I just would hate partial-view, and I tend to get those when I rush. I don't think I've ever had partial-view with TDF. But great advice!

Thanks, JBroadway!I would rather have better value seats. I remember going to buy tix for a "flash sale" for Frankie and Johnny... and all mezzanine seats were the same price. I'm not sure why I assumed this would be a similar deal. They were trying to give me 2nd to last row in the mezz under the overhang. Probably not a big deal for Dana H, but still wasn't feeling it when almost the whole mezz is empty (this Thurs)Funny enough, I could sense I was taking a short while at the BO and that so...

Anyone have any good discount codes for the BO? The one floating on IG was able to get me 2nd to last row in an almost empty mezzanine. Thinking TDF might be my best option here unless anyone knows any good codes.

Renovations While Theatres Are Closed

Aug 4, 2020 — 9:45:03 AM

I'm not sure if this was announced before re: the Cort:"The Shubert Organization has partnered with Berg + Moss Architects to design and construct a 49-story hotel adjacent to the historic Cort Theatre at 138 West 48th Street in Midtown, Manhattan. Proposed actions also include rehabilitation of the theatre and the construction of a five-story annex that would contain a portion of the new hotel component and back-of-house theatre spaces. ... The Official TDF Thread

Mar 4, 2020 — 11:16:02 AM

I've probably used TDF over a dozen times now and have never had a partial view seat. It seems like twice now, someone has reported a partial view seat at The Minutes. Have I just been lucky? Does TDF often give partial-view seats?
