Hello everyone. I was told I could find some help here from a boy in our church. I am taking my three sons and daughter to New York City in late August. I was researching broadway shows that would be perfect for our family. The wife and I are concerned about content, so we do not want to see anything like Rent or Hair. They are not family sensitive. I read some of the "Magdalene" post and I will not be seeing anything that is offensive to Christians. I was thinking that Sister Act might have a good moral, but then again, its catholic. The best we can decide right now is The Addams Family. How is the content of that?

I'm sorry, I've never used this site before. A bowl of popcorn was added after my message, but is gone now.

So the obviously fake OP doesn't get deleted, but other posts do?

Addams Family is fairly family friendly, but Grandma has been known to adlibs innuendos, and I think she smokes marijuana. Not sure what your objection to Sister Act being Catholic, but while it's an uplifting story, I wouldn't call it very moral. What about War Horse?
eta: Phyl, I can understand why the mods might give a newcomer, even one that's probably a sock, the benefit of the doubt. A picture of popcorn adds absolutely zero to this board. Newcomers get driven off this board every day. Maybe the mods are tired enough of that to give even a sock at least a chance to prove they're not.

The OP is playing the part of a nutty evangelical Christian who doesn't believe that Catholicism is true Christianity.
I would recommend Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Thank you ghostlight2 I am not too concerned about minor innuendos.
The Catholic snap was a joke. I am sorry if it offended anyone, as the movie played the same type of joke. And yes, my family has seen the film.
And, excuse me, I am sorry for asking for help on this site. I am not a 'nutty' Christian. I have my values, and my family has values. We will not attend that show Priscilla Queen Of The Deser, I will not give my family any of those ideas.

Try to get tickets to The Normal Heart.

I am not familiar with that musical, what is it about?

It's an early play about dealing with AIDS. You would not be interested, and it's hard to believe you haven't heard of it. If you truly are a newcomer and not a sock, it's helpful to stick to the subject and not be judgmental of others, like using statements like these: "We will not attend that show Priscilla Queen Of The Deser, I will not give my family any of those ideas."
Go see War Horse, Sister Act, The Addams Family, How to Succeed in Business... or Anything Goes. If you're looking for something super squeaky clean, stick to War Horse. You can find something objectionable in anything, though, if you look hard enough.

It's about normal people and their hearts! Light, warm and family-friendly!
THE BOOK OF MORMON is one of the most life and faith-affirming musicals I've ever seen.
From what you've said DON'T see Book of Mormon...not that you can tickets.
My suggestion would be How to Succeed.

Just see Mary Poppins, nothing vulgar or controversial at all.
How about Steel Pier?
OP, Catholic shows can truly be demoralizing. I truly hope your kids never witness The Sound of Music.
It's hard to help without knowing all of the OP's bigotries; so far all we have is the anti-Catholic bias and homophobia.
Incidentally, Cole Porter, of course, was gay, so I'd imagine "Anything Goes" is out.
Honestly, the best way to avoid being exposed to unwelcome ideas is just to stay home.

Mary Poppins
The Lion King
the main character in Anything Goes is actually an evangelist

Actually, Reg, I considered discounting Anything Goes because of the mobster aspect, but it was dealt with in such a cartoonish manner I figured it would be ok.
If the OP is truly a newcomer and not one of our bored regulars sockpuppeting it up 'cause they didn't get invited to a BBQ this weekend, it is kind of discouraging that they don't feel their faith is strong enough to handle a few ideas outside of their belief system.
Offtopic: I've always wondered if Aimee Semple McPherson was the basis for AG's evangelist.
It's been suggested that ASMcP was an inspiration for Reno.
Whether genuine prejudice in the name of religion or sockpuppetry, the post is dispiriting, isn't it?
