#1A question about announcing a theatre

I was just wondering something. I was always under the impression that if an upcoming show is looking to take a currently occupied theatre, they would wait for the current show to announce closing prior to announcing that they're moving in. Was my impression correct?

For example, I just read the article talking about how Tom Hanks is going to be in the upcoming Broadway production of Lucky Guy. In the article, it says that they are going to be in The Shubert (not a Shubert house to be announced later.) Memphis is playing there, as of right now, they haven't announced a closing date. Therefore, isn't it not the best form for the producers of another show to say that they are moving into The Shubert?

Priscilla announced it would be playing the Palace Theatre before West Side Story announced its closing.

The Riedel article said a "Shubert theatre," small 't', not the Shubert Theatre.

This is a cut and paste from the BWW article: a limited run at the Shubrt theater in January.

Yes, it is a little "t", but it also read THE Shubrt. So there are at least two errors in the sentence: either it is THE ShubErt Theater; or A ShubErt theater. We can't tell from here. I'm guessing the latter is correct, even if it ends up being THE Shubert.

And here's a cut and paste from Riedel's column, where BWW got the news:

"Hanks has signed on to play tabloid newspaper columnist Mike McAlary in “Lucky Guy,” which will open in January for a limited run at a Shubert theater."

BWW's news story is in the wrong.

I don't doubt that at all...I was just noting from the BWW article -- where the OP was likely getting his comment from.
