I was looking through my ipod today and realized that I had a cast recording for every single letter of the alphabet EXCEPT for the letter Q. And I couldn't think of a musical that starts with a Q that has a cast recording. I was hoping ya'll could help me. Can you name some cast recordings that start with a Q? "Avenue Q" and "Queen's We Will Rock You" do not count.

Edit: I also would like another X since my X is a Soundtrack and not a Broadway Musical.

What was "X" in your collection?

Xanadu - it's not a cast recording, but a musical soundtrack. SO if anyone has a cast recording that starts with an X also, I'll take that bait too!

This isn't a game...he just is looking for a musical that begins with Q. Is there any that start with the word Queen?

I changed the title to make it less confusing for people.

I was searching the internet and found a musical called "Quilters" that was on Broadway in the 80s I think. But I can't find a cast recording to go along with it.

Years ago while playing a game involving one-word musical titles, I heard of an opera about Malcolm X called "X." I have no idea if there's a recording of it around for your iPod.

Q - Quilters, Quilt, Quasimodo
X - Xanadu (film), X (opera about Malcolm X)

I don't think there was a cast recording for Quilters.

Thanks you guys! I will attempt to find these recordings if there are any out there. I might also search for original regional musicals that might have recordings. In Nashville, we had an original musical called "Zombies Can't Climb" that came out with a concept recording that filled my Z spot.

Not to mention the off-Broadway Zanna Don't. If it is reincarnated on Broadway, I understand it's to be called just Zanna.

According to the Cast Albulm database... www.castalbulmdb.com there are two Q shows with recordings... neither of which I've heard of. Quasimodo Prince of Fools and Que planton! No X's though, but a good number of Z's you can check em out.. there's more info on the recordings on the page as well!

'Quilters' doesn't have a cast album because of the structure of the show; there are very few songs that aren't intertwined with extended dialogue sequences, so the only thing to do would be to record the entire show (which most productions don't like doing so much, of course). We did an area production of it in March 2006 (Stageloft Repertory Theater in Sturbridge, MA), and had an area quilting/crafting guild make 'the' quilt that's unveiled at the end of the show, which was auctioned off at the end of the run (the money raised went to Abbey's House, a shelter for battered women). In fact, due to the overall response, it's going to be done again next March 2007 (tentatively - check www.stageloft.com, and pardon the shameless plug). It's worth a watch, and our version wasn't "boring" (as a prior post declared of the show - the review should actually still be on the site as well), and that's taking into account my potential bias. re: A to Z Broadway Musicals I'm hoping at some point PBS will take it on so there'll be an 'official' recording of it, even if it's just a DVD/Video.

I'm agreeing with Starmiter - our theatre has done QUILTERS twice - once in the mid-1980's and once two years ago. It was HUGE success - we sent out flyers to quilting clubs and ended up with busloads of groups coming from four states.

We also had a local quilting club make our quilts. Each small quilt was made by one woman, who got to keep it after the show closed. The Legacy Quilt was made by the entire club, and the theatre raffled it off, selling tickets throughout the run of the show. We made about $3000 in raffle tickets each time.

There is no recording, much to the chagrin of groups attempting to do the show. Our theatre is constantly getting phone calls and emails from other theatres and schools desperately asking if we have a tape or video of our production. I recently found a clip of a college production on YouTube. They obviously had never heard a recording, because some of the tempos were HALF the speed they are supposed to be. Luckily, the first time we did the show al those years ago, Dramatists Play Service actually sent us a live bootleg casssete of the Broadway production so we could hear how the music should sound.

There are cast recordings of these:
¡Que planton!
Quasimodo Prince of Fools

I can't find a stage show that starts with X. I like the Xanadu suggestion.
