"Here are my guesses:
BEST REVIVAL (won't win)
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS (Natalie Cortez)
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR (Jason Tam)
That's it. And those are hopeful. I don't see this production walking home with any Tony's."
If ACL doesn't win Best Revival, who will? I think ACL already has it in the bag. A Chorus Line is a classic, it will score big point with the Tony Voters.
This is a duplicate of the original production. Nothing new to award here. We will already have 5 (most likely 6) revivals this season. There will be plenty of competition from creative teams who will actually try something NEW with old shows.
ACL won't, and sohuldn't win Best Revival. I love the show and think this is a great production, but I could have seen the same thing 16 years ago.
Personally, I feel that since Sweeney didn't get it alst year, it's compnay's. This has happened before, just ask Brian Stokes Mitchell!
Charlotte is really not good as Cassie. Maybe she has proved herself as an actor elsewhere, but she certainly does not do so here. Her singing is breathy. Her dancing is good. She is by no means a standout in the cast, or close to being a standout. In my opinion she was a negative. I also don't think Deirde or Natalie deserve nominations, but at this point, I'm not sure who their competition would be. I think Mara was the standout of the production, but, as stated, it's really not a big anough role for me to think she'llget nominated, though she is by far the most talemted in the cast.
Maybe she has proved herself as an actor elsewhere, but she certainly does not do so here.
- Let see she has played the role of Roxie Hart on and off since 1997, and has always received raves. Is that not enough to prove herself as an actress? Roxie is a little more meaty acting wise than Cassie.

I think what would be cool is if the tonys created a special award this year for the best ACL people. Natalie and Jason would win. Also, I love Alisan Porter, Mara, Michael Pateronoso, Natalie, Jason, Deidre, and James Lane.
Lmao. A new category for "Best Chorus Line Performer?"
Because that's totally feasiable.
Did I deny that she has done so elsewhere? No. I have not seen it, but I certainly don't doubt it. Nevertheless, her acting here is just not very good.

I agree with forgetregret - I love Natalie and would love to see her get a nomination, but I don't think it'll happen. I think the most likely to be nominated will be Jason Tam for featured actor and Jessica Lee Goldyn for featured actress. And I don't think this will win best revival. There's just too many this year and like people have said, this revival is pretty much a carbon copy of the original.

Whilst I typically agree with you, I have to say, just because she proved herself to be a talent as Roxie, doesn't mean she can play Cassie. As a friend put it "You could feel the audience's let down during 'Music and the Mirror' when she just didn't wow us." The only real thing she has over McKechnie was the back-bend, but only because it wasn't there when McKechnie did it (But when she returned it was, so there was pre-recorded drama, etc).
If any of the women get nominated it will probably be Natalie. Deidre isn't dynamic enough, and Goldwin is just too...dumb blonde with it. Honestly, I don't think it'll come away with any awards, not with "Apple Tree," "Company," "110 in the Shade," running against it.
Thanks husk. That was what I was trying to say. I just didn't feel anything for her Cassie.
Nevermind...
Thank you all for turning this into yet ANOTHER "Let's hate and bash and trash Charlotte!" thread... Makes me ill.
You're the only one who's doing this, if anybody. Everyone else is making constructive criticisms.

I feel Charlotte D'Amboisse has a much stronger chance to be nominated in the Featured Actress category, there is almost no way she'd get nominated in the leading category, not with Ebersole, Chenoweth, McDonald, Block, Monk and Brown in the competition. They're all in roles that are far meatier and more central to the show than Cassie. The only reason Cassie was considered a leading role in the original production was because Michael Bennett pulled as many strings as he could to get McKechnie into this category. He even told her that if she was considered for the leading actress categpry she had less chances of winning because she was competing against other actresses who played roles that carried their shows (and she was indeed competing against Gwen Verdon and Chita Rivera).
Apart from D'Amboisse, I think Jason Tam is the only person who has a chance of getting a nomination. You have to be aware that many of these actors' votes will depend on how they hold a candle to the people who originated their roles and that's why I doubt Deidre Goodwin and Natalie Cortez will get a nomination.

Charlotte is known for being an amazing dancer. Not a great actress. I personally think she is a fine actress but her singing is horrible. She will not be nominated. She simply does not deserve it. Sorry

The thing about this show is that aside from Cassie's obvious spotlight, everyone else in the show is fair game. Sheila has only been considered a main character because Kelly Bishop made her one, and I don't think Deidre has done that to the revival Sheila. She's just another one on the line. Natalie, on the other hand, has taken the chance to stand out instead, over Deidre, and so has Jason Tam. I see no nomination for Cassie, a featured actress for Natalie, and a featured actor for Tam. That's about it.
