Jus caught the fact that this play, going up in LA next month, is a co-production with Williamstown Theater Festival (which certainly lends quite a validation to this new work)
I haven't read any casting announcements yet but curious to who will be cast - given that its a month out I'd imagine that this would be made public?
Also, in recent memory, I can't recall a time where a new play has had its premiere BEFORE appearing at WTF. Curious as to how that all works.
Sounds like it's an engaging play if it's being co-produced by two wonderful theater companies.
Manhattan Theatre Club recently added this play to their Off Broadway season as well, beginning in October. They have been added as a co-producer. This is perhaps not surprising since Mandy Greenfield, WTF's current artistic director, was formerly MTC's artistic producers; in recent years a number of shows have gone from WTF to MTC.
It's playing a 2-week engagement at Williamstown in August. There have been other plays that have premiered before being produced at Williamstown.
I don't know who has been cast in the Geffen production or whether all three productions will have the same cast. I saw the casting breakdown, and it's a two-character play--a Jewish woman and an African-American man, both early 20s to play college freshmen.
Actually at MTC
thank you for that. now I remember the Sam Shepard ended up at MTC a few years ago after WTF
sounds interesting to say the least AND that intimate space at The Geffen (and the WTF Nikko stage) are wonderful for what sounds like a two hander.
Martyna Majok's Cost of Living, which premiered at Williamstown last summer, is also coming to MTC this summer.
