#1AEA Showcase rules
Posted: 1/6/15 at 7:10pmHi everyone, I'm a young actor in NYC and I've come across an audition notice and it says it's pending approval to be an AEA Showcase. I've tried to find the rules for these things but am not having luck. Do you have to be equity to audition? Thanks for any help you can provide.

You do not necessarily have to be an Equity member to audition, though whether or not they choose to see non-Equity actors is at their discretion (was this an open call or a by appointment call). Should you get cast you can not get your card through this, as a Showcase is not considered a salaried contract.

Posted: 1/7/15 at 11:15amYou can certainly submit; whether or not you get an appointment is at the discretion of those putting the show on. Most showcases are a mix of Equity and non-Equity actors.
