AIDA - Exceptional Ending

2nd posting - didn't want it to be lost.

Hello everyone, I was at the show this afternoon as well. No, there was no big hoopla about the show closing but the performance of everyone was totally over the top, including the musicians. Everyone gave 150% this afternoon.

Of course, I love me some Deborah. She did an OUTSTANDING job. Of course she proved once and for all that she is a SUPERSTAR! She was absolutely phenomenal. The saddest part of the show was knowing I will never hear Deborah sing The Dance of The Robe, or The Gods Love Nubia, or EASY AS LIVE, or It's Written in the Stars.

Now everyone else. I always liked Adam, I never loved him but I did like him. I have to admit he sounded really good tonight. He didn't sound as 'raspy' has he normally does; although I like his 'raspy'ness.

luvWICKED416 Lisa was really GREAT as well. I always love her performance. If it wasn't for her and her character I would cry though the entire show.

I really don't understand why people don't like Micky. He's the only guy I've seen play Zoser so it's hard for me to compare him to anyone else. All I'm saying is that his voice sounded ok, just not horrible.

Eric did a great job as Mereb as well although I think he over did it at times. It was like he said, it's the last show and I'm going out with a BANG! He was better than the last time I saw him.

From my understand a lot of previous cast members were there. None which I recognized. I scanned the audience for Heather and even asked around to see if anyone knew if she planned to be there. From what I can see, she wasn't there although I hoped she would be. I wasn't surprised that she wasn't.

After the show everyone came out to sign autographs. It was nice to see the entire cast. The crowd outside was incredible. I love being around other people that love AIDA.

and damn!!! What time did people get in line for the student rush tickets????

NEITHER DID ADAM!!! Did you see how he looked at the audience during the scene in the tomb??? I swear, I almost wet my pants, that's how scared I was of him!!!!

aw thats too bad about the photography... though i sort of expected it... its my guilty pleasure. i hate when people do it but i love looking at the pics. ive never taken any pics myself though...

You should have seen the look Adam gave the audience during the tomb scene. I mean, he had a good point because the flashing was ridiculous during that scene!
Adam literally turned to the audience and shook his head. I thought he was going to get out of the tomb and start beating people up.

it was so sad but the show was so amazing yea adam was scary haha. o two other bloopers the boat left before Adam hit the rope and when he threw the sup it broke into two pieces and the bottom went into the pit. The show was so wonderful and i will miss it and Cheyenne jackson is the sweetest man!

Oh that look. Whoa! I can just seen him using it on his kids when they're older and doing something he's not happy with! I almost expected him to say something, he looked so mad. For one thing it's a very emotional scene, and the flashes were definitely taking away from the moment; and also flashes are usless past a certain number of feet!

So, is it generally okay to take photos at "the end" of a long running musical? Or when I notable actor/actress leaves a show? I mean, if it wasn't, the ushers would be grabbing the cameras, unless it was the press.

yeah the flashes got too out of hand. I mean the 1st couple before the ending of act 1 was ok. But during act 2 it seems like someone was taking them during every scene. I saw one guy from up to the stage from the back of the theatre and take pictures at the end of act 1. No one can love the show more than me but you still have to give it respect!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just trying to picture this:

Adam and Deborah climb into the tomb. They're singing the reprise of Enchantment Passing Through, gazing into each other's eyes, tears rolling down their (and the audience's) cheeks, the curtain closing in on their faces for the last time.

Suddenly, a ripple of flashes in the audience. And Adam looks into the crowd with a Evil Death Glare akin to Sam from The Apprentice after he got fired.

And the curtains close. Way to ruin the moment, people.

Sometimes I think corporal punishment is justified, even in a classy theatre environment.

It was terribly out of hand. I'm kind of glad I didn't see my boy's "death stare," though. I do like to see things through rose-colored glass when I can. That'd have ruined the moment for me.
