Obie winner Stevie Walker-Webb, director of Broadway's Ain't No Mo', has joined the creative team of the new musical Gun & Powder.
Following a 2020 run at the Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia, industry reading presentations of the musical will be offered December 15-16 in Manhattan. Walker-Webb will direct.
eaturing book and lyrics by Angelica Chéri and music by Ross Baum, Gun & Powder is inspired by the true story of Mary and Martha Clarke—African American twins—who passed for white to help settle their mother’s sharecropper debt and seize the funds by any means necessary.
Solea Pfeiffer (Almost Famous) and Emmy Raver-Lampman (The Umbrella Academy) starred as the Clarke sisters in Signature Theatre’s world premiere under the direction of Robert O'Hara. Casting for the reading has not been announced.
