ASSASSINS cancellation

Last night's show was canceled due to an "abundance of caution due to increasing Covid-19 positivity rates" according to their website.

What do you think this means?? And what does it mean for this week's performances (I have a Thursday ticket).

It could be anything, but it reads to me like they might have used last night for a put-in rehearsal for new cast members, in case they have COVID cases later in the run.

Definitely hard to predict what might happen by Thursday. It seems like they're taking it day by day. There was some discussion on the Covid Cancellations thread (#1541) about the language so I'd suggest checking it out. We’re in a strange time especially since shows seem to cancel without any notice. It really is a wait and see game right now. If you do come Thursday and your show is cancelled, have a backup show in mind so your trip to the city isn't wasted. Are you coming from out of state?

No, I live in the city, but I had a friend from upstate coming down to join me. I think he's going to cancel his trip now, however...

Well, Assassins is selling tix for today so hopefully that’s a good sign.

The show is going on today. But, I was told their cancellations are done on a day by day basis. A wait and see approach which is fine for us locals but a real drag for anyone coming in from out of town.

ASSASSINS cancellation

I just posted this in the COVID cancellations thread:

I went to the show today (thank goodness), and I asked an employee: "why today, but not yesterday?"

I was told that, per union rules, they were waiting on a 2nd negative PCR result for one (or more) of their previously-positive cast members. I'm not sure if there was a delay in the result, or if they didn't know about the 2-test rule until now, but either way, that was the reason I was told.

Which basically means that their wording was deliberately vague and misleading. It was NOT because of "rising COVID rates" in general. But neither was it a result of a sick cast member.

Also, Pasquale's speech before the show stated that 2 company members were out. I only counted 1 missing ensemble track (Rob Morrison). Maybe the other missing person was a band member?
