This felt like a draft or two away from being a very, very good play.

Some wonderful writing, and some very on-the-nose, paint-by-numbers writing. It's an enjoyable evening, but not life-changing by any means.

This play very much needed to give its antagonist the best argument, and it just... doesn't. (Unlike Eureka Day last season. The closest it comes is when

Leslie manville on audience behavior ..

I don't care what anyone does in the audience if it doesn't ruin someone else's experience. Recently, I've been at two shows where VERY tall men have decided they needed a booster seat in the front rows of the orchestra. Like, let's maybe start there and not worry about someone taking photo when the show is over.

Two Strangers probably had Best Book locked up months ago, being (I think) the only original book.

I mean, you can think whatever you want about the choice of car. (I was right up front and didn't see the boombox, I guess we were too far over.) The costumes other than maybe Happy's are 1940s era. There are no script changes at all. It's 1948.

Joe Mantello strips it of excess homage and places it down center with a startling immediacy. Gone is the poetic prism on the house. But it’s not bare bones deconstruction; the world of the play has a decided theatrical capture but freed of 1948 specific tropes. The audacious movement to the early 60s gives the text a different post war context, since Miller anticipa

I think they don't usually release discount codes until they know they will last through the summer.

It's not like this is a new show, though, or new to New York.

Two Strangers is going to run away with Best Book, Best Score, and probably Best Musical.

Grocery stores/coffee shops in my part of Manhattan are largely open, or opening by noon. MTA is running regular schedule. It's just going to come down to how

With the travel ban through noon tomorrow, I can't imagine that's going to be happening either.

HIGH SPIRITS at Encores!

We went with no expectations, and boy, that was a lot of fun. Lots of really good work being done on stage.

Andrea Martin, God bless her, went up on a line later in the show (she has so much material, holy ow) and said, out loud, "It's late, and I'm tired" to much, much applause.

Definitely get tickets if you can.

Playwrights Horizons sued over discount for POC

Being a student is not a protected status the way that race and gender are. A discount code based on age would absolutely be illegal. That's why programs for people under 30 (or 35 or whatever) are programs and not discount codes.

The plaintiff here has a case if there was some sort of box where you had to check you were a person of color. If

Although NY is a one-party consent state when it comes to recording phone conversations in most situations, I think still think this is pretty icky, particularly when the greatest crime Fox seems to have committed is… being egotistical and having poor judgement?

Thanks for posting this. I think Slam Frank has done way more harm than good, but it's hard to take anyone seriously who calls it Zionist propaganda. Zionist is not a slur. It basically has always meant Jew. For thousands of years.

The fact that something this lazy, cynical, and obvious went through multiple levels of copy-editing and fact-checking, and ended up printed on the
