So you want to go for a cappuccino (and maybe a pastry) after a Broadway show...where do you go that's not Starbucks? Reasonably priced! There don't seem to be many cafes in the Times Square area. Or am I mistaken?
There is a dean and deluca in rockafellar center.
Don't. Get on a train to little Italy
Ferrara or Veniero's
Veniero's is an experience you will treasure.
It is an out of body "I'll have what she is having"
kind of experience.

I want to stay in the neighborhood. Any other suggestions? Updated On: 2/15/05 at 09:52 PM
I second the Little Italy motion. It's worth the short train ride.
If you want to stay in the midtown, Times Square area... many people I know like Roxy at 47th and Broadway. Roxy has several, nice post-show treats.
If you're over 21, I'd say skip the dessert and head to "Don't Tell Mama." LOVE that place!
It's on 46th between 9th and 10th Aves.

Oops, I meant I WANT to stay in the (Times Square) neighborhood. I corrected the last message.
Not many responses...perhaps the area could use some more non-Starbucks Starbucks-type places.
I'm just talking about coffee/dessert, no hard stuff.
That's what Roxy is... coffee/cheesecake...
Roxy on Bway & 47 I believe. Its between 46-47 right on Bway. Great place for after show dessert/coffe - price wise, its New York!
omg... it's like I'm not talking...
I always enjoyed stopping at Roxy's after a show. I mentioned once before that a slice of their cheesecake was very welcome on a long train ride home!
Majestic Deli is great. Located on 52nd right across from the Michaelangelo hotel.
Those places suck for dessert.
I would not waste your calories on dessert at Roxy.
If you can't spend 10 minutes to get to Little Italy then go to the village.
Times Square has the worst dessert places.
You could go to Ruby Foo's for the sushi dessert, but Veniero's beats it hands down.
Cafe Mozart is pretty good.
Cafe Mona Lisa in the Village has great coffee.
Veniero's has the best dessert.

..never had a bad dessert at Roxy. Plus, it's in the theatre district, where you want to be.
I hate Roxy. Sorry. If you only knew the stuff i know about that place.
Don't eat there period.
Trust me.
For some reason I imagine you hate a lot of things, Corine.
No. I know good from mediocre.
And if i am going to eat something orgasmic (not often anymore) I go somewhere really decadent.
Roxy is not that place.
I would rather skip it and save it for the three times a year i splurge.
OH HERE IT IS.
My favorite Times Square splurge:
CHEZ Josephine's White and dark mousse.
TO DIE FOR.
But ask Jean Claude for all white. The WHITE rocks.

Venture down to 19th street between Broadway and Park and have some soup and coffee and sweets at Wichcraft. It's the take out, sit in offshoot of CRAFT.
How could I forget Payard Patisserie 1032 Lexington Avenue for magnificent French pastry.
The Renaissance Diner on 9th avenue at 52nd street - great menu, great desserts and if you are an equity member, show your card and get 10% off your bill.
oh, if only Amy's Bread were open after the theater... i think Roxy and others in Times Square are overpriced...
I haven't been in Amy's Bread for years. Do they have tables to sit down and have coffee, etc. It was a little tiny store last time I was there.
Once Upon A Tart in the Village is a really neat place.
yes, there are six tiny tables in the back

If you are willing to walk 10 minutes, check out Fluff. Its on 9th Ave, between 50th and 51st streets. They have the most incredible chocolate chip cookies and cupcakes. Plus, they re-do all these hostess desserts (twinkies, those pink marshmellow ball things--can't remember the name, etc) but with good ingredients and without preservatives. And then of course they have coffee, tea etc and all that good stuff. Lots of tables, so its a nice place to sit (unlike Amy's Bread, which has barely any room to sit down).
