Hello there !
I'm french and I love musicals (I worked on "Fiddler on the Roof" in Paris the last season).
Well, I would like to know if a new cast recording of the revival "La Cage aux Folles" was available ?
Thanks !
Sébastien

And that's too bad.
I thought it was great and I did see the original production.

I saw the original in 1984, and it was splendid!
The 2005 Revival was wonderful, totally enjoyable, and should have had a long run!

I liked this show a lot, the only orchastration that I didn't care for was the opening, which sounded like a banjo in the revival.
And a great cast too!!

Sadly, it went unrecorded. While I cannot and will not discredit the original cast recording, it still infuriates me that this phenomenal score (and with another phenomenal cast in the revival) cannot have two English recordings. You can get ten different versions of some, but La Cage didn't even get it's second.
To me, that's really sad.

Posted: 8/5/06 at 12:15pmThe original recording is good, but it sounds... old. I wanted a newer version with the cast that I saw to remember the wonderful time I had in the theatre that day.

I love this opera ! And I find that's very very sad that a new cast recording was not available...Well you know, here in France, we had also the musical version of "La Cage Aux Folles" in 1999 (I think that is right).
And the show was a flop (even if the cast and the production was great !). I've some songs from the french cast, but the sound is terrific !!
