I was really excited to see Adam and Anthony, but now he is injured.
Has anyone seen Shields? Is he good?
Feel Better Adam!
Thousands of people have seen Cary as Roger; as I said in your thread, he's been with the show for years. He was good at one point. Who knows how his "leave of absence" has affected his performance.
How long does an injury like that take to heal?
I'm suppose to see the show next month in San Diego. Hopefully he will be in good shape by then.
Cary Shields is the first Roger i saw. He's who i saw when i saw RENT on Broadway in 2004. HE was great!

I saw Cary last night. He was amazing! Made me forget I was even missing Adam.
Bummer! Seeing the show Saturday night.
I saw Cary as Roger twice on Broadway and he was incredible each time.
People won't be disappointed.
I loved Cary as Roger. He's my favorite.
If I remember correctly this isn't the first time Adam's back injury has flared up. Don't quote me but herniated disc isn't something that heals overnight, but can get to a tolerable point to resume life. I have degenerative discs and some days I can't walk, but the next day will be fine. You just have to watch what you do. I saw the show on Sunday and he is still hopping on and off the tables which can easily trigger an injury like this. I hope he feels better soon and resumes the toru. I would have loved to see Cary.
Yes, this is something that's happened to him before. He had a back injury during Aida.
Cary is an excellent Roger. He was one of my favorites. And everyone knows how picky I am about Roger!
Get well soon, Adam.

Cary leaves alot to be desired in the acting department, but he has a BEAUTIFUL voice and makes the tween girls swoon.
so nuts that hes back in RENT after all that... stuff.
Adam:
Come over to my apt. take off your shirt and I will massage your disc, OK?

Nature's way of telling you you're too old to be doing RENT!

If Adam's not better by San Diego, Joshua Kobak will be taking Cary's place anyway. I'd rather see Joshua than Adam anyday.
And Jon, I couldn't agree with you more!
You are right, MotorTink. And oddly, herniated discs can happen to anyone for any reason. I'm 21 and have a herniated disc, I don't participate in sports or really any strenuous physical activity (which explains a few things...lol) and we have no idea how my back was injured. There is a surgery to correct the problem/replace the disc, but the long-term effects haven't been well studied and most people are treated with physical therapy. However, if you don't continue with PT, it can flare up again really at any point.
Sorry for the long-ish post...hope Adam feels better, herniated discs are a bitch!
when i saw him in aug 2005 on broadway he sucked
Poor Adam. He just does not seem to be having much luck with the tour lately. Wasn't he sick in Philly, and then missed last Tuesday in Jersey? I wish him a speedy recovery.
The show(s?) he missed in Newark were because of this injury.
Poor Adam =(.
First Legally Blonde, now Rent, why is it that all the National Tour drama happens in Michigan?
Cary is also one of my favorites, too.. I kind of wish I could go to Detroit to see him.
If Joshua Kobak ends up filling in, I wouldn't be disappointed. He is an absolutely fantastic Roger. Of course, having said that, it would be nice if Adam gets better before I see the show in LA since he and Anthony are the only reason I bought tickets .
Kobak was the most boring Roger I ever saw, but that was also 9 years ago and reportedly he was usually a lot better than at that performance.
