Hey Nia - well, that happens sometimes. The movie was in a film festival or two, had a short run in Manhattan and was also shown once on TBS as a Christmas special last year. The reviews I've seen tend towards the opinion that the movie is overly sentimental, which is probably why it didn't get wide distribution.

Chloe, did you see it? Opinions? I'm curious to know what was so bad that the producers decided against risking it on the open market, despite all the other not-so-good films out there.
I saw parts of the TBS showing, and it definitely wasn't terrible, (though I was very disappointed that they cut off the end credits so that I didn't get to hear Winter Light, damn them.) I think that the rather high-powered cast, including Susan Sarandon and a cameo from Robin Williams, set up expectations that the script couldn't fulfill. It would have been quite acceptable as a holiday TV movie, but was aiming at being a major feature.
The last I saw, a self-destructing DVD of this was available from Amazon, but I don't know if that's still true. I don't think this self-destructing idea is taking off. The idea was for people to get a movie cheaply for three or four days, as if it were a rental, then it would disappear. But people like to hold onto things.

I feel like he's singing it wrong... though I know he's not. It is probably in a minor key, but I guess I have to know the song...

I agree with Chloe, it wasn't the worst movie you'll ever see. It was shown in theatres in NYC and LA for about a week (to get Oscar consideration) before it was show on TV. It was directed by NY actor Chazz Palminteri. It supposed due out for a "real" DVD release later this year. Hopefully the score will see the light of day then. Posted a pic of the back of the CD with the tracklisting.
I know what you mean korenglish - the melody of the first couple phrases is unexpected and initially sounds "wrong," but of course if it really were, they would have done another take.

Exactly how I felt about it... the one pitch that he sings just seems really unexpected, and not how I would have chosen the next note... but if that is what they were going for, I only could listen to one minute of the song, so I don't know how the end goes...
Wanted to let everyone know that NOEL is now available on DVD as well as multiple airings on Lifetime. Happy Holidays to everyone.

Okay, did anybody else think this song sounds like a cut song from Labyrinth for David Bowie?

I freaking love this song, it's so pretty.
I love the low note on the word "noel"
Somewhere a voice / sings a noel
I agree OnTheSkyWay. I love this song too. Wish it was a bonus track on his Civilian CD.
