Posted: 6/12/09 at 2:17pmGiven that this is little more than him saying, "So, hey, I want to do this," (no director, writers, etc. attached) it's a random thing to need a press release for. I don't know much about Queensrÿche at all, but, could be interesting.

And if it's good, Queensryche's released a sequel in 2006, so there's even more source material to work with for a follow-up!
Full disclosure: I'm a metal head and I love this album.

Posted: 6/12/09 at 2:29pmThe press release, no doubt, was to spark interest in the project. I say, why not? Adam Pascal has never hidden his devotion to rock music, and he's also proven himself to be a reliable singer / actor on the boards in RENT, Aida and Cabaret. He may be a non-traditional entity in musical theater, but why shouldn't he seek out and develop properties for himself? We just got through a Tony season that included Rock of Ages and Shrek, for g**'s sake. Is a Queensryche musical such a surprising idea in this day and age?

I'm all for it. Mindcrime is a classic rock opera, and it's time some of the classics finally got the stage premiere they were inevitably destined for.
I'm just annoyed that it might beat the infinitely more deserving "Pink Floyd's THE WALL" to Broadway.

The Wall always sounded kind of fascinating.

What about my post suggested that I disagree with you, or don't think he should go for it if he wants to? I think Adam is incredibly talented, and that his nontraditional background is an asset to the work he does. He's always marched to the beat of his own drum, and that's one of the things that I generally respect about him. If he can make this happen, more power to him. You don't have to defend him to me. :)

I laughed so hard. Just imagining him shopping this to any legitimate book writers, any legitimate directors, and I get the sweetest twinge of second hand embarrassment.
What an ideal project for a man with so little practical ambition. The score is already written, the story already outlined, best role automatically bestowed upon him, and he has the benefit of 20 years of practice on the material.
When every sensible creative mind he approaches laughs him off I just hope he's on good enough terms with his wife that she'll just write it for him. Plus, it'll be way less embarrassing to turn over all your self aggrandizing and gramatically incorrect notes to someone who intimately knows these aspects of your personality.

^Funny you should say that (whether jokingly or not). I also thought of Lambert in the role because I figured he could handle Geoff Tate's four octave range. But Pascal seems to be claiming the role for his own...
