I m not sure where the vitrole comes from in Pgenre's posts but how on earth he/she pretends to know what is in Bebe Neuwirth's head is a puzzle. Do you suppose she was thinking the same thing when she did Damn Yankees or any of her other roles? Many performers come from a classical training background. Does that mean she doesn't want to have fun?
Also, without hearing the FINISHED songs (not the initial draft), it is impossible to know whether this show will be any good. Vets like Neuwirth and Lane have had enough bad experiences to judge workshops with a cautious eye and to decide on projects based on their experience. Certainly ANYTHING can happen and the show could bomb but I really think it is too early to judge whether a) the tickets will be exhorbitant as compared to other Broadway prices or b) whether the show will be any good or c) what on earth any of the cast is thinking. Let's just wait and see how things go in Chicago.
