Advice on playing a Male Character as a Girl?

So I just got cast as Freddie in Bye Bye Birdie, and I'm super excited to play Freddie! But I'm also super nervous because I've never played a guy before and I'm a girl. It's new Territory for me, and I just don't know how to act or hold myself. Any advice? ??

Just observe the guys around you...youll find they arent that different from you.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Try watching Mary Martin or Cathy Rigby play Peter in the filmed versions of Peter Pan. I think each actress worked more on bringing out sides of themselves that worked well for the character rather than trying to act like a boy. I don't know who you're playing but the fact that your character is a boy is probably the least interesting thing about him. Try focusing on other aspects of the character.

Just play Freddie. Read the book, interpret the lines, and play the part. You don't necessarily have to become a guy who is then playing Freddie. Is your Freddie a butch lesbian but that is never addressed in the book? A trans guy that is accepted? Or just leave the answers for the audience to decide on their own.

The main thing is to just enjoy yourself.
