Of COURSE they had flying cars in the 50s. Everyone had one. They just did away with them because they used up too much gas =P

Well, then, Sidney, it absolutely frightens me that you are an English teacher.

And frankly, I find my voice kind of grating. I do think I write well, though.

What does my being an English teacher have to do with anything?

Because you seem to have a problem with reading comprehension.

Ok, first of all, what the hell is up with all the quotation marks. Not to get off topic. But, man, I don't think they are meant to be used that frequently.
Second of all, I know it sucks to have everyone jump on you, but you're not arguing your point very well. All you've said that is close to an argument is that when they made Grease they were trying to duplicate a real high school in the 50's. If you actually believe that, ok. Apparently, your mind won't be changed. You're not giving any real, sensible arguments though. So I think this subject is rather dead.

I'm "honestly" laughing my ass off at this whole "thread." What the hell happened here?

As a sidenote, I agree with everyone said that the age factor didn't really bother them in Rent. The movie is somewhat flawed, but I never really saw that as a blatant one. Even if the thought that the actors look a bit old for their assumed ages passes your mind during the movie, I doubt it truly took away from the enjoyment of the film as a whole. If you didn't care for the movie, I would think there were better reasons to dislike the movie than that (and that's coming from someone who liked it a lot).

Em, I heart you <3
*chuckle*
It seems almost to be threadjacking to actually talk about the ages of the Rent movie cast, but here goes...

I liked the movie, but one of the problems I had with it is that I didn't understand whether the actors were supposed to be playing characters close to the age they look like they are, the age that their actions would make them, or somewhere in between. For example, it's one thing for a 35-year-old man to mope around unemployed and live as a squatter while waiting to write "one great song," and it's quite another thing for a 23-year-old to do it. So which one is Roger in the movie supposed to be?
