Posted: 7/1/04 at 8:54pmMy friend, my aunt, and I are all planning to rush for Aida on July 17 (Saturday). Since we live in New Jersey and need to take the train into Penn Station, I was wondering which time would be more appropriate to arrive: 8:53 or 8:32? What time do you think we should arrive at the box office so that we can be sure to get tickets? Any help would be very appreciated, thanks.

Posted: 7/1/04 at 9:13pmGo with the earlier one. Since it's summer AND Adam's back, it's probably going to be a bit more crowded.

Posted: 7/1/04 at 9:24pmget there as early as possible. i'd say no later then 8am. remember its student rush, 2 tickets per id.

Posted: 7/2/04 at 12:04amthere's only a 15 minute difference. what is the problem?

Posted: 7/2/04 at 12:06amAlso, remember they don't tell you this but some of the student rush seats for AIDA are obstructed view becasue the stage is so damn high. I was in the front row on the end and could not see a goddamn thing that was happening in the back of the stage. Great show though!

Posted: 7/2/04 at 12:41amIs there any way you can get to NYC earlier than 8:30? I've rushed the show a dozen and a half times over the past year and I can tell you, especially now that it's summer and Adam's back that if you get there at 9:00 the line is going to be down the block and wrapped around. I know on a Saturday there are double the amount of tickets because there are two shows, but that also means double the amount of people. Also keep in mind that if your train arrives at 8:32 or 8:52 in Penn Station, you still have to walk 15 blocks to the theatre. I know it sounds awfully early and like you're going to be waiting a long time but it's the only way to guarantee you'll get tickets, trust me, try and get to the theatre by 8:00! Also, try and get seats as close to the center aisle as possible because those are the least obstructed.

Posted: 7/2/04 at 12:46amThe earliest train out of my station is 7:17, so the earliest I could possibly arrive in the city is around 8:30. If I can't get rush tickets, does the TKTS booth still sell tickets?

Posted: 7/2/04 at 11:51amI am planning on going Saturday the 10th, should I take a 6:51 trainw hich arrives at 7:26, or a 7:33 train which arrives at 8:12??? I appreciate your help.

Posted: 7/2/04 at 11:53amAgain, like people have said before, get there as early as possible.... it's summer AND Adam is back, so it's going to be more crowded than usual. Besides, you'll still have to walk from the train station to the theatre, so that will consume some time as well.

Posted: 7/2/04 at 12:52pmAlso remember that on top of it being the summer and that adam is back it is closing. So ontop of the fact that ticket sales pick up in the summer and you'll get the crazy adam fans (i can say that cause i am one of them) you will also get the people who are just plain ol' fans of the show. The earlier the better. I'll be making a couple of trips for RUSH and i am not looking forward to my early rising, but its worth it. So ill be seeing it today (i already have tickets) So ill post on how it was.

I saw Aida (admittedly on a weekend) in April, and I arrived there at 8am and there was already 10 people ahead of me. The earlier, the better. (Sorry to sound redundant, but it's true.)
My other suggestion (and I did this successfully-ish for Boy From Oz) is to check Ticketmaster repeatedly to see how well tickets are selling for the date you're trying to catch. That way you have an idea of whether or not it'll be on TKTS and what seats you can expect. And like what J. said, the view is obstructed and it's sort of a pain cuz you can't see a lot of the back of the stage (like the sails in Fortune Favors The Brave) or even the floor (like when Aida and Radames have finished doing their thing after Elaborate Lives), which makes things sort of annoying. Getting TKTS tickets can almost be a blessing in that sense!
In conclusion (sorry, I'm writing this while writing an essay...), if there's 3 of you, I would recommend 2 of you lining up at the Palace B.O. (I'm assuming your friend is also a student, otherwise there might be a problem), and your aunt go line up at TKTS (there'll definitely be a lineup there at 8am too), so you have the option of the best of both worlds.
Good luck! :)
