I think what resonates with most people is the music. And there’s no denying that the talented cast does the music justice. For some people, having their favorite songs performed is enough for them, which is absolutely fine. For me, I just expect more than just some good tunes. Maybe if I was more into the music in Ain’t Too Proud, it would have been easier for me to overlook the problems. I don’t dislike the music by any means, but it is not music I listen to regularly.

Am super late to the party (this thread and posting in general lol) but I finally saw the show and had a GREAT time. I really hesitated and resisted since I'm one of those who HATED Jersey Boys (full disclosure: I left at intermission, but it was a lotto ticket). Yet I thought this was a FANTASTIC show. Great music, great performances. Not surprised audiences have taken to it.
