I just felt the need to make a post for my favorite disney movie of all time.
I am pretty sure it has been a musical somewhere, but has it ever been on Broadway?? Do you think it should be??
I personally would love to see it, I think it'd do well... everyone loves Aladdin, it's the best! And the songs are awesome and they could add some more in and make it the best frikin Disney Musical ever.
Well that's enough of my rant on Aladdin...
There's a musical-esque thing of Aladdin at one of the Disney theme parks, I think.
LOL... that's a good question actually. Also would Aboo talk or no? If he could talk he could have a song even, but I dunno if I'd like that, I think it's funnier with no talking and just monkey noises and facial expressions and such.
Seriously though, I'd love to see this, cuz Aladdin is the best.

i love aladdin so much. we are doing it this year and i'm really excited. whenever i see scott weinger on full house i think of aladdin.
"There's a musical-esque thing of Aladdin at one of the Disney theme parks, I think."
That is correct. I know for sure that DisneyLand in California has the show because a friend of mine played the role of the Genie.
I think if I ever get a chance to go down to Disney sometime I have to go and see the Aladdin musical...
Anywayz, still curious to what people think about an Aladdin Musical.
Deedee Lynn Magno (who was Kim in Miss Saigon for years) played Jasmine in the Disneyland Aladdin. I believe I remember reading that there were two casts in that show and they alternated performances.
A full blown production of Aladdin, is IMO, a pretty good idea. I'm actually surprised they haven't tried this yet. I would think it's a better idea than Tarzan.
I'd rather see Aladdin than Tarzan.
And the FIRE in the cave of wonders would be awesome.
My friends were in Aladdin Jr. this past weekend. It was wonderful.
I agree. I think a broadway version of Aladdin would be great.
I can just imagine the first scene in the desert with the Cave of Wonders rising up........
Bob Crowley (who I think the is the best and most creative set designer working these days) would do a magnificent job with the set for an Aladdin musical.
that would be so COOL! my favorite number would be "Prince Ali" :)
The Children's Theatre Company (Minneapolis), who first produced A Year with Frog & Toad and eventually sent it to Broadway, has Disney's Aladdin on their upcoming season. There are rumors of it going to Broadway.
I think coreography potential with Aladdin and/or Pocahontas is just LIMITLESS. Especially those big ensemble numbers like "Prince Ali", as mentioned. Special effects for Aladdin would be an eye-pleaser, as well.
SongNDanceman2402, do you know where I could find some recent pics of Scott Weinger?

yeah actually i do. on candece cameron's website and jodie sweetin's website(s) they have pictures of like weddings and movie premire's that are all pretty recent. you can just google the actors to find the site
Well at least people agree with me that it'd be fun too watch.
I mean, I personally love the songs...
One Jump is a fun quick little song, Prince Ali is awesome, as well as the Genie's number and who can forget A Whole New World! I personally think it's a cool little song and would love to see the flying carpet.
The effects would have to good and it'd just make the play awesome. The whole cave in the beginning, them getting trapped inside and attempt to escape on the carpet first, the genie, and just all of it... it'd be so fun to watch!
I personally would enjoy maybe a few other songs here and there even too, but who knows... you can leave it as is and it'd be cool too. I know the second movie had some good songs, but the annimation was weird and fifferent and plot sucked, but some new songs would be fun (as long as they are good).
I really really really hope they put this on Broadway sometime in the future, it'd be a dream come true. As long as they put a lot of work into it and such, I know I'd see it over and over...
They have all these other classic Disney movies, why not Aladdin? I don't know anyone who hasn't seen that movie and most enjoyed it when they did.
Aladdin on Broadway! Lets see it happen!
I'm surprised Aladdin wasn't put onstage earlier. Seriously, it would be a BIG musical. Disney will make sure it has good special effects. They've got the money. And you know the folks at Disney will be all about bringing the deleted numbers back. For instance, I'm willing to bet that "Proud of your Boy" will be brought back and used if this ever goes on Broadway.
As for the rumor about the theater in Minneapolis taking it to Broadway--I checked the website, and they're producing the Disney Jr. version available through MTI. I doubt they'd do that version on Broadway.... but maybe there's still hope for a Broadway production of Aladdin.

Is the Aladdin that's available for community theater's the Disney version? IF not, what version is it? Who did the music? Is it any good? Also, I heard at Disney that instead of having one HUGE genie, they made the genie a bunch of ppl that all look the same. Very cool concept. I def. would go see this over Tarzan. But my fav. movie is Pocahontas. Poch. could be a beautiful designed show. Oh the potential.
OY VEY!! What hath become of beloved child stars?

Her daughter looks like one of the Olsen twins!
Yea I guess Disney would make sure to put a lot of money into it... it'd be an amazing show IMO.
Also, I agree with Pochahantas being good.... I'd actually enjoy that as well.
But Aladdin is still number 1 in my mind.
Disney has released a stage version for stock and amature rights. I believe at the moment it's only geared as a children's theatre/family show. I think if they ever took it to broadway the script would have to be broadened with much more demanding production values. Interesting though that they would go this route with one of the big 4 (Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Lion King)
Aladdin would be such a cool show! I would also love someone to make a Pocahontas musical. Better than Tarzan anyway.
I've actually seen the perusal copy of Aladdin as licensed by MTI and it's very much a children's show meant to be performed by children/teens. The music has been rearranged to allow more ensemble members the opportunity to sing. While it works for a middle school, I don't see this working at a community theatre unless things were reworked (which is technically illegal). If they took this show to Broadway I doubt this would be the basis of their book.
