He looks good. I think he has lost some weight (from what I remember). I just saw his pic in the ROUNDABOUT's Gala and he looks really good.
He is so talented at a young age. I had no clue he was in his 20's, comes off much older sometimes!
not even his prime, my dear.
such a talented performer! he did a lovely job in SITPWG but his talent felt a little wasted, for me. at least his beautiful voice was wasted...
I didn't know he was in SITPWG! He's racking up quite the list of Sondheim credits on his resume.
well, his dad is THE musical director for Sondheim shows and concerts (except the "Sunday" revival unfortunantely)
He's seriously only in his 20's?
I'm so glad he's music directing PAL JOEY. (Paul, that is. Not Alexander. Obviously.)
Yeah, I think I last read he was 28 ...cool!
Wow, I had him figured for a lot older than that. Anyway, he's still fantastic.
Not in Les Miz...
offensive.
Alexander is a fantastic performer and was great, in LES MIS.
jealous? bitter? I don't even know. I do know that he is much better than some of the other men who have taken on the role.
I thought he was over-the top in Les Mis, and inconsistent in Sunday. He wasn't awful in Assassins though. He's not a bad singer, but I do not like his acting at all.
not a bad singer?
Alex has a BEAUTIFUL voice.
He hasn't been properly showcased... one day, he'll get the role that's right for him.
Neverandy, sweetheart, there is MUCH worse acting under the Broadway lights right now.
I don't need to mention names or we might start a whole new argument here.
According to this month's Playbill magazine, he recommends Applebee's.
Which I'm sure he loves...
Just to clarify, Alex is indeed in his 20's. Turning 29, he'll be 'the big 3-0' in '09.
jealous? bitter? I don't even know.
Being female, I am automatically jealous and bitter at everyone who is unfairly born male because they have the upper hand at being cast as Valjean.
"offensive."
Um, that's not offensive. It's called an opinion and people have different ones.
Was he padded in Sweeney Todd? I was in row B for Les Miz and he's a spitter! But I love him, he's great!
How much more "Showcased" can you be than Jean Valjean?
"According to this month's Playbill magazine, he recommends Applebee's.
Which I'm sure he loves..."
For the record, Playbill picks the restaurants that pay them to be in that section...it is not a real recommendation. Not saying he might not like Applebee's, just saying the truth.
And I loved him in Assassins, Sweeney and Sunday, and I thought he did well in Les Mis but could have been better. I really wish I could have seen him in Avenue Q.

I saw him as Sweeney Todd in the tour a few months ago, and I thought he was fantastic! (his Beadle on the cast recording isn't too shabby either)
I don't think he was....
the way Alex handles his harmony part in the reprise of "Ladies In Their Sensitivies" is marvelous. anyone with knowledge of vocal technique could appreciate how he uses his male mix and approaches the higher notes.
Cheyenne Jackson recommends Applebees as well.
