When I was watching Next to Normal I could tell she had a tattoo on her leg. Has anyone else noticed this? How long has she had it and what is it?
Just curious.

I was afraid I was going to open this thread and read about someone wanting advice on what Alice Ripley-themed tattoo they should get.
Just out of curiosity, where was the tattoo?

I think i remember seeing it at Arena. but i couldn't tell what it was.
It's on her leg.
Maybe her left? I might be wrong. It looked like some sort of Chinese symbol or something.
"Brilliant and bold", no?
I noticed that too, I cant figure out what it is though. While were on the topic of tattoo's I was watching Ghost Town and Brian D'arcy James was in it for a few scenes. He had a tattoo on his upper arm, I was wondering if anyone knew it if it was fake for the movie or real? I cant remember if I ever saw it on him before.

I know this is crazy off topic, but Steve Blanchard has some crazy tattoos all over his arms...
...
Whatever happened to him anyways?

I asked her what it was and this was her reply:
"The character for qi (chi) in Zhengkai (Chinese).
Direct translation is "vital energy".
Also known as "The Force".
Here's an informative site:

I got this tattoo on Maui, Hawaii, in 1996.
Cheers, AR"
So there you go!
It's a Chinese symbol for energy. She's had it on her ankel for a while.

When I saw the show again for the second time. I couldn't see it. I think they made her cover it up. i'm not sure but i was sitting in the 4th row and could see it the 1st time but not the second
Pretty sure it was visible yesterday.
Why would they make her cover it? It would be a totally Diana thing to have a tattoo.
I never noticed the tattoo until I sat in the rush seats.
Yeah- I noticed the other day as well.
While we're on the topic of Broadway actors w/tattoos-
anyone who saw Exit the King notice Susan Sarandon has two tattoos that were visible? One looked like a vine or band wrapped around her wrist and the other looked like next going down her upper spine. Awesome.
This thread reminds me of the old thread that someone posted because they were overly giddy that Laura Benanti said that she had a tramp stamp in an interview.
Oh good,
for a hot second I thought she was dating Herve Velechez,
then I remembered, he's dead.
What is a tramp stamp?
a tramp stamp is a tattoo that's generally on a woman's lower back. most likely a sun, moon, star, or chinese symbol. but it's the low back/upper butt thing that's key

<----- Like the one in my little picture over there LOL
But the thing is that most of the girls who have tram stamps are well...Tramps. But, they know that they are tramps and don't see why everyone else thinks that is wrong.
I prefer the term "California bumper sticker." X)

I'm not, nor have I ever been a tramp. Not all people who have tramp stamps are tramps. I just happen to like keeping all of my tattoos cover-able for a work environment. Hence the reason why I had the sun put on my lower back.
I certainly didn't mean that every woman who has a tattoo on her lower back is a tramp, just explaining the name! I know plenty of not trampy people with chinese symbols/moons on their lower backs. That just happens to be a basic definition for those who were unaware.
I'm not calling anyone here (especially since there's an excellent chance I don't actually know people here) a tramp!

Whoa, danger Will Robinson, there, Winston. What do you base that assumption on?
I have noticed that a lot more actors have tattoos than they used to - of course, so does the general population, so I guess it makes sense. It used to be strictly verboten.
etaPretty sure Lea's response was directed at Winston, iflip, not you

No, I understand that, iflip4musicals. You're cool. It was winston89's post that I took a little offense at, not yours. The way it was phrased just rubbed me the wrong way.
haha yeah, I didn't read winstons. phew! relatively new to posting, didn't want to upset anyone so fast!
Laura Benanti has a tramp stamp? Or was she kidding.
..and the funniest term I heard for the tramp stamp is HO TAG.
