Curious if there is a recording... I know that there isn't a commercial release, but does anyone know if their is a sound booth recording from one of the productions that is circulating?
I think this sounds far too generic, nothing really new or original here. I'm not opposed to pop sounding music in musical theatre, but it has to be done right.
Yep, have to agree with those who dislike the clips. Completely lacking in originality and any sense of mood.
Bummer, Alice is one of my favourite stories and could make for a really interesting musical. But I guess you have to be smart and creative enough to cope with it.

So my friend who had a connection managed to get me a DVD of "Alice." I was thoroughly impressed with the show! The YouTube videos do NOT contain the high points of the show, however. So do not judge until you have seen the show. My friend says there is a rumor it may be tweaked a good bit, and then be made into an Off-Bway show.
CurtisTaylorJr2-- The clips make it seem very generic, I agree with you. However, once Alice enters Wonderland, different styles of music that is other than rock are introduced. The choreography for the Caterpillar scene is great, the SFX are great (for a comm. theatre), and the acting is great.
However like every show out there, there are several moments that need to be cut or tweaked. One of them is a scene called "The Missi Show." I found the scene to be..well..awful. I also thought the beginning of Act 2, which was a Gospel number, was aggravating and should be cut and replaced with something better.
The clips make it seem very mediocre "Legally Blonde-esque", but trust me, it is MUCH more than that. Do not call it awful until you've seen the whole show!! I will see if some better moments of the show can be put up on YouTube. Apparently, Stephen Schwartz tweaked this show and gave the writers amazing feedback. He said he had a ton of confidence in this show, and thinks it has a lot to offer.

Ugh, I hate when they try to force all these different musical styles into a show. That's lame. Just find one singular musical voice and use that throughout the show instead of trying to make it so generic and so many genres that nothing is focused.
The show has some promise because I think the subject matter is kind of interesting, but it needs a lot of work. I mean, hell, I couldn't even tell they were in "Wonderland." And the lyrics are so generic and so bland.

RentBoy86--You are judging the entire show based off of 2 short clips... If you saw the show, its easy to tell they are in Wonderland. But from the clips, its mainly the kids in the school. And the musical genre is basically all rock, but it isnt all that "pop rock" that is shown in scene 1. For Eg: the Caterpillar scene is middle-eastern rock and it sounds amazing, and the elevator song is jazz-rock. The lyrics need to be cleaned up in several places, but for the most part they are OK
There is a promo video online now at www.alicewonderfullmusical.com. Has an overview of the piece.

Sounds like a GREAT idea for a musical. Go for it! Don't let the bugger butts on this board get you down. Ha-a pun! There are a LOT of naysayers who must live miserable lives on this board.
On the other hand, hearing about shows like this and other POSITIVE endeavors is wonderful.
