Why does Roxie say "I gotta pee" after she shoots Fred? Is it just to be comical or is there some other reason behind it?

Besides being comical, I think it also indicates that she's nervous and upset.
i think it depends on the delivery of the line.
for instance, on the revival recording, i always took it as roxie was overwhelmed about what she just did, and found a reason to leave the scene of the crime.
when it was done her locally, the loverly lady playing roxie had such an inflection that it seemed like she just, didn't care that she killed someone. it was like "bang bang bang....okay what do i do now? hmm. i need to go to the ladie's room."

I always saw it as a little comical bit, but also as a way of conveying that Roxie has not really grasped what she has done yet
It's mostly comical - in my opinion.
It's such a great moment, I can't imagine the number without Roxie saying "I Gotta Pee" - and running off stage.
I need to see the Chicago revival. I live in NY so it's so close. I tried a few times when Brooke was in it, but that didn't work out. Now, I'll have to go anyway.
It shows that Roxie has no remorse for what she's done.
