Altar Boyz Signing at Virgin Megastore!!!! + Photos

Disclaimer: yes i know their real names. it's just more fun to do the review like this because the promo was mostly "in character."

Helllloooo New York! (and other cities across the nation and overseas lol)

You all probably knew I was going to be there today! and I even shamelessly ran after their limo TRL style...As you all will be seeing me in those pictures when Broadway.com and other medias post them, I shall refrain from posting pictures of myself just yet. :)

There was a HUGE turn out and I took some photos of the crowd to show you. The Boyz were astounding! As soon as I walked into Virgin at 3:30 to buy extra copies of the CD (cheapest in town by the way...everyone please go pick up a copy!) I heard "Rhythm in Me" playing through the store. I met up with some friends from the ABz forum and bww and we went downstairs to check out the stage. All the Altar Boyz were there except Abraham and they were doing sound checks. Luke saw my hat and said, "Does that say 'Woman of God'? That's my girl!" and gave me a hug. Now you can all I.D. me in press photos haha!

A note about chasing after the limo: the Boyz's bodyguards had to restrain us all but still we tried to reach out and touch them. LOL

When everyone got there and the performance started, the Boyz asked if the Backstreet Boys had shown up and they were informed they had not so they started singing "Something About You." Matthew pulled up a lovely young lady who was wearing a shirt with his face on it! I hope you guys can see it clearly. There were 2 groups of (Catholic? :)) girls with matching T-Shirts that had the Boyz all over them! If you ladies are reading this, ROCK ON! The Boyz were so touched. Matthew got down on his knees to serenade the lucky girl. Afterwards the Boyz asked if Backstreet had shown and getting an answer in the negative, they concluded with "I Believe." I have pictures of Abraham bringing da funk! Abe, I wish I did not freeze up every time I see you!! For some reason you make me so nervous, I feel like I'll say something stupid. :) Mark, Luke and Juan went to touch hands with the audience the most though Matthew touched my hand! ahhhh

I have a picture of him posing for me when he was signing CDs!! I love how Matt breaks into poses whenever he notices fans are watching. I got my CD cover signed by the Boyz and the Composers! Those two...what can I say...you guys are hysterical! I can't believe they recognized me and it was the first time I had met them. "Are you that girl from bww and the forum?" LOL Matt signed "This is to our #1 Girl" on my CD at Mark's insistance. awww THANK YOU you two! You've made my day! and week! and what the h-e-double hockey sticks...year.

So many people came, I'm so thrilled! I hope some of you board members were there! I hope my relentless and shameless promotions brought some of you out to meet the Boyz. They are so warm and outgoing to their fans it's truly inspiring. People flooded the downstairs floor, stood on the escalators, and peered over the railings. So amazing to see how many people believe in them!!!

Dearest Boyz, if I wasn't already doing it, I'd plug for you to the end!

Darcey i LOVED it! i'm dying (of laughter)!

for my photos: yes Matthew's shirt says "I Rock Catholic Girls." he has the best shirts, i don't even know where he finds them.

The press: promo people gave us free magnets and poster cards. There are 2 pictures on there that weren't on the main sites. i'll try and get them up soon. there was also a guy from sh-k-boom filming fans waiting in line for the CD signing so there should be official footage up soon. also the whole front center mob crowd had video cameras so i'm sure there will be footage available for those of you who couldn't make it!

Cute pictures.

So, I have a question. Were they doing this whole promo thing in character, or as the actors who play the ABz? I'm not sure I'm really getting a clear picture - like... for example, I went to the Taboo signing at Virgin, and the cast members sang, but it was like a concert. Euan and Jeffrey sang Guttersnipe, for example, but they sang it as Euan and Jeffrey, not as if they were still playing their characters from the show. Just wondering how this went, since there seems to be slightly less of a clear distinction between the characters and the actors, in terms of the ABz. Not a slam, just confused!

i wrote the review in character because they did the event in character and i wanted to match them. none of them were wearing their usual outfits but we all screamed "Matthew! Mark! Abraham! etc..." in the pictures i have of them signing CDs they had little name plates that read "Matthew, Mark..."

of course they talked to the fans like real people and chatted with us out of character because that would be too much to handle. on the whole they were really going after the "characters" approach according to the promotion people.

Right, I got that you wrote the review in character, so I guess that's what confused me. But yeah, I get it now - that's what I mean, was in terms of the promotion, how they were approaching it - you know, if they're continuing this spoof of the boy band phenomenon off-stage as well.

yeah emcee.. i was debating whether to write it in character or not since i know that can be confusing. i just thought everyone would know them by now. maybe i should put the disclaimer on top of my review.

Trisky, you should've been there. It was such a good time. You need to see mine or MoG's sister's videos. It was so friggin' amazing. And Brandon was such a hit. Hahaha. He came up to me afterwards out of drag, and it took me a few minutes to realize who he was. Hee.

I talked to Scott for a while after the actual show tonight, and he said they kinda just shoved them out there blindly. Like, this is the event, go out there as Matthew and just talk. So all that stuff was off the top of their heads...it was good times, good times. And after the show was fantastic...not only did I chat with Andy and Scott for a good chunk of time, but I got hands down the cutest picture of Andy and I in the entire world - . Hehe.

Aw Balletgirl I saw you!! I was the one that said I liked your shirt while we were waiting for your limo (the one with the sign that they censored ... "Mark, be my sperm donor" - the sign was a joke folks)

But to add a little more, the promotion was really well done. The whole idea of them arriving in a limo with press there really attracted a lot of people ... people followed the screaming crowd and tried to peer in side the limo. Props to the producers for continuing to be creative in everything involved with the Altar Boyz!!
