I saw the Broadway revival. But I loved the movie! People seem to like it more than the critics did, but its still doing terribly. Thoughts?
There's actually a ton of thoughts in the twenty other threads.
I liked it but did not love it. It could have been so much better.

I liked it, but I'm not a very critical person. I can see where all the hate is coming from, but I thought it was pretty good. Definitely a step up for the reputation of the movie-musical after Mamma Mia, but that goes without saying.
No, but you're the only one who felt the need to make an entirely new thread about it....
See: Jordan's post for confirmation.
You're not the only one. I have a friend who has a friend who has a Facebook friend who liked it.

I also liked it but didn't love it, especially after rewatching Chicago a few nights later.
A great cast, beautifully staged numbers, a very well-written script...these elements SHOULD make a great movie but they just refuse to gel! Lightning clearly did not strike twice for Marshall.
But I could enjoy it just for the amazing performances delivered by the cast.
I'm normally quite the optimist when it comes to movie musicals but this is in my opinion the weakest of all the movie musicals to come out since Chicago.

Betty Buckley's tweet on twitter about Nine:
And, have to say, I loved "Nine". Rob & his compadres have created such a seductive world. Just wanted it to go on longer. U gotta see it!

I'd love to read Sondheim's tweets about Betty Buckley!
LOL!

You're not the only one.
"Warts and all," I still enjoyed it very much.
"LOVE?" maybe not.
"Really a whole lot LIKED it, because some of it took my breath away?"
Yep.

Count me in. I had a great time. Well shot and designed. Old-style charismatic performances. It was glamorous holiday fun.
Yeah it was a very fun movie. I didn't think it was amazing (wasn't a fan of Marshall's dream sequence this go-around), but the cast worked their butts off in my opinion.

Such profound thoughts coming from Will O'Donnell that I am coming down with the vapors again!
That's what happens when I get bored and can't sleep on the last night of vacation.

Well here's a tidbit that will have you up all night:
There's a recurring rumor that Nolan Gerard Funk will be heading a tour of NINE this summer!
When I can verify this rumor, I'll let you know.
Mm, unfortunately I'm on strike from any fictional Nine tours until Jane Krakowski is reinstated as Carla, but just the thought probably will keep me up all night.

I just hope you've got a good supply of Kleenex on your bedstand.
Well, if you're really trying to get to sleep I'm sure my treatise on the available recordings of NINE will do the trick for you,

Enjoy!
I enjoyed it a lot. Rob Marshall's concept is getting a little old... but the cinematography was beautiful and the actors all gave superb performances. Be Italian had one of the best stagings I've seen in a movie-musical. It was absolutely thrilling!
I thoroughly enjoyed it...as did my partner...who is much harder to impress. I forgot that I was in a movie theater and almost started applauding at the end of BE ITALIAN. The movie made me much more interested in the stage version. I passed on seeing the recent revival on the advice of someone who had seen it, and now I regret taking his advice.
