Amazing Megan Hilty

I just have to share this with everyone because I think it is so cool!! About a month and a half ago I wrote a letter to Megan Hilty. She was kind enough to respond with 2 personalized autographed pictures, and a note.

I teach ballet, and brought in the autographed pictures to show my level 1 ballet students (they are about 7 years old). A couple weeks prior to that, we had had some "Wicked Days" in ballet - dancing to all the music, familiarizing them with the story of the show, and even watched a couple clips from the show (a performance of Megan Hilty in "Popular" included) - i pulled off of youtube and brought in and played on my laptop.

Well, they all said to me that they wanted to write letters too. So 2 weeks ago I brought in paper and markers, and they all decorated and made their own cards to send to Megan Hilty. I mailed the letters out in a package the next day.

Yesterday (less than 2 weeks later after having sent them), i received a package in the mail from Megan. She sent each and every single one of my students, and my assistant, a PERSONALIZED autographed picture! She included a card with all the photos, thanking them for the cards, and also telling them that she had hung all of them up on her dressing room wall, and now sees all the cards that they gave her on a daily basis!!

I just can't get over how wonderful Megan Hilty is to have done that for all my students! I teach them tonight, so will be able to give them all their pictures, and they are going to be SOOOO thrilled!! I will be taking a group picture of them all holding their picture from her, and will be sending a Thank You card out tomorrow.

I wanted to share that story with you all because I think it was so wonderful of her to do that for my kids!! Aside from being a great performer, she is a wonderful person with a great big heart!!

Who is Megan Hilty? Didn't she play Karen Walker on NBC's WILL & GRACE sitcom and is doing XANADU now on Broadway?

I'm confused.

I love hearing stories like this, especially for someone like Hilty.After hearing all those 14 year old girls b**** about how she doesn't stay and talk to them at the stage door, it's great to hear such a story

That is such a heart-warming story! Megan is the sweetest. So sad to see her go here at Wicked LA on the 11th...er the 18th.

So my kids about died when I gave them their pictures and told them she wrote to them!! Some of the comments included "I can't believe she wrote to me!" "I am going to treasure this forever." You should've heard the gasps when I read them part about her hanging their pictures up in her dressing room. Their jaws were dropped, and they were absolutely beaming!

She is an amazing person! We took a class picture tonight w/ all of the kids holding up their picture from her. I picked up a THank you card, and developed the picture we took into a 5x7. I'll be mailing it out tomorrow.
