Amazon Pop Up Ads on BWW

Just wondering if anyone else experienced this. This past week I've been traveling and only able to access BWW via my Ipad and every time I would access the chat boards, especially the "Pretty Woman Reviews Thread" I would immediately get a pop ad saying "Congratulations....you won an Amazon gift card" and while there was an "X" to close the ad, when you did you were immediately forwarded to another page instead of BWW. This happened so often that I ended up not even logging into BWW.

I did a little research and found that it is because of an ad on the page but I couldn't tell which ad it was. I have been having numerous issues with the ads on BWW messing up the whole browser.

I have stopped using my iPad and iPhone on here because of the pop ups. The odd one or most frustrating one is when you are moving around the page and pop up appears. Each time I would have to restart my iPad. Come back and it would do it again.

The “you won” pop up as has been discussed in other threads here. It’s actually not an ad coming from BWW. It can happen on any website you visit frequently. I had it happens to a least 2 different websites as well.

They say the best way to make it stop is to clear your browser history and website data. If you google “you won pop up ads” you’ll find plenty of articles about it and how to best prevent it from happening again.

I don’t like clearing my website data because it logs me out, so when I see that the pop up is about to happen, I just switch it to airplane mode to stop it so I can read the thread I just opened.

I did research it and found the "fixes" but it didn't work even after deleting the history/cache and it only occurred with BWW. I suspect it's company that is advertising on BWW. But like a number of people have mentioned, it only happens on mobile devices, at least in my case.

We have been investigating this throughout the morning. This is coming from a programmatic advertiser, which means that it is not someone that advertises directly with BroadwayWorld. That is why you will see it on other sites as well. It is a scourge across the internet, specifically on mobile, and we work with our programmatic provider to block anything that behaves like this as soon as possible.

We just heard back from our provider, and they said that if it happens to you, if you send us the advertiser URL and the device and browser that you see it on, they can triangulate from there, and put it on our blacklist.

The best way to communicate that info would be to email contact[at]broadwayworld[dot]com. As that address is monitored nearly around the clock.
