Here's a new video of Amelie, which contains some nice music clips. Soo can really sing, and wow, is she gorgeous. Based on what I'm seeing and hearing, she might well get some consideration at Tony time.

Honestly, I'm pleasantly surprised how nice those songs are considering the complaints from the score I read on here.
And yes she looks absolutely stunning.
The score they showcased does sound really well. I wonder if the orchestrations are what's making people think it's redundant.
Also - this entire team has latched onto the word "imaginative". I had to stop the interview at 2:30 mark because it started making me cringe.
I wrote a piece on my blog about this, but the way Amelie's character is praised for her quirkiness while people like me (who are a little different) are ridiculed by those same folks, is saddening.
Nevertheless, I like what I've heard so far and really do want to catch this.
Interesting you say that, Ado. I was recently talking about the same thing over drinks with some friends. We were discussing who our favorite character in FRIENDS was and a lot of us said Phoebe - except, we gave contradictory answers when I asked if they'd want someone exactly like Phoebe in their lives and if they'd feel the same way about the character then. Television and movies have a way of romanticizing things in a very dishonest way, and Amelie is a great example of that.
Thanks, Valentina. Here is my post, if you're interested in reading more. Link
In fact, just this week I bizarrely received a Facebook invitation to my elementary school's 10-year reunion. I firmly declined. Those other children may have forgotten...but I never did.

As someone who saw the show in LA, the score is indeed pretty but that's all it is. The songs all run together except for maybe one.
