I have a dilemma:
I live almost 3 hrs away from New York City and am planning to see American Buffalo. Regardless of which I pick, American Buffalo will be seen. I’d hate to travel that far for one, just under 2 hr show so I thought let’s make the trip worth it and see The Little Prince. The issue is, I’m also not sold on see The Little Prince and don’t want to sit there bored.
I can’t decide if I want to do a two show day with American Buffalo and The Little Price and buy two crappy seats (and risk being bored half the time) OR, just see American Buffalo and splurge on a good seat.
If you were me, what would you do? Is The Little Prince the only 1pm matinee on Sundays or is there another I could see?
I’d just go to Gallagher’s on W. 52nd Street and have a steak, garlic mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach.

I'm not a red meat person but the sides do sound good. Always looking for food recs (thank you!) and this place does look great though!
I’m always in the camp of “see more shows where possible” but if you really don’t think you’ll like it, then I guess you shouldn’t waste your time and money on it. I doubt it will be boring though, unless you’re someone who’s unimpressed by spectacle and/or dislikes the story of the Little Prince. I enjoy both, so I’m excited for it. Even if the quality of the adaptation is lacking, I anticipate it being entertaining at least.
But if you really don’t think you’ll like it then it’s probably best to comb through the schedules to see if you can find another early matinee. Check the Playbill website schedule for a start, and go from there.
As for your seating question; personally I think a seat upgrade is rarely worth it to cut out an opportunity for a 2nd show. I tend to think that 2 shows from bad/average seats is always worth more than 1 show in a great seat. Especially at Circle in the Square which is pretty intimate.

I do love Circle in the Square. And even the last row is only like 6-8 rows from the stage so there isn;t a bad seat in that theatre. My gut is telling me to do both and that's what I'll most likely do. I'm also in the camp of "see more shows where possible". I'm not too familiar with The Little Prince material so I'll have to research it more!
If you're keen on a second show, why is the only option Little Prince? So many (hopefully) good things on the horizon. Strange Loop, Mr Saturday Night, Plaza Suite, etc.

I'm open to anything! I have few shows planned already (Plaza Suite, Beetlejuice, Hadestown, Hangmen, Macbeth). This bus I'm taking is on Sunday instead of Saturday and leaves around 6 pm so I'm limited to a 1pm and 3pm matinees. I'll have to check the schedule of shows again to see if other shows fit with a 3pm American Buffalo. I think Strange Loop does because of run time, but they're at 3pm most Sundays.

I don't think you'd have time to do both--I was considering doing this too until I read about all the lines. With the vaccine and security check, I'm told you have to be there 45 minutes before the performance. The website says "The Little Prince" is 1 hour 50 minutes so unless you walk out during intermission you'd risk getting to American Buffalo late.

I won't be going until June so I'm assuming the vaccine checks will be gone by then. Even if still in place, the vaccine checks are running smoothly anyway so I'm not too worried. Circle In The Square is only 3-4 min walk from The Broadway, so even if both shows start a little late, I should be fine.
