American/Canadian Idol?

Hey guys-- I hope I don't get ripped up for this..

But, has anyone on the boards tried out for any of these shows? Has anyone made it far?

My friend made it to the top 16 in Canadian Idol when he was only 16, and I persuaded him to hand in a resume for Hairspray. I also told him about the open auditions for the movie.. but that's off topic.

Anyone? Does anyone plan to in the future?

re: American/Canadian Idol?

my friend tried out for American Idol last summer in Boston - she didn't get past the first audition, but still said she had a great time.
I want to, sometime in the future, just not sure yet...

I want to.... just cause I want to meet Simon. I have a terrible voice and would love to get ripped to pieces by him :]

I wanted to, but then I realized that being in the theater was more important to me so I flushed that breif pipedream down the toilet

HatBoy,

Was your friend that Darryl kid?

And yes I auditioned the first season of Canadian Idol when I was 17, and got cut after a few rounds.

His name was Andrew Broderick, he tried out for the second season and was a wild card choice, so technically he was the top 12-16... if you google his name and Canadian Idol you'll find a lot of stuff, a performance of his "Imagine" is online somewhere..

I would like to just for the experience of it all. If they ever do auditions in Minnesota or somewhere closer than Chicago, then I'd probably give it a try, but I don't care enough to really go out of my way for it.
