Posted: 7/12/10 at 2:07pmHey guys. This is my first time doing a lottery for any show. Since I don't live in NY, I always wanted guaranteed tickets but now I am fairly certain that I am going to try to do the lotto for American Idiot tonight. What time do I get there? How long do you wait to find out if you win? Do I need to do anything special? Let me now! I feel dumb not knowing but I've never seen the lotto being done either at any show.

Get there anytime between 6 and 6:30 (preferable earlier than 6:30), just show up, nothing is needed, find out at 6:30
Edit: Sorry forgot about the ID and Cash. I've gotten so used to having it I forget to tell people to bring it.

if you are going tonight (monday, the 12th) they will allow you to put your name in the bucket between 6 and 6:30. Everyone has an equal chance of their name being called no matter when you place your name in. that being siad how long you have to wait really depends on when you put your name in. you can submit your name at 6 and wander around times square, so long as you are back by 6:30 for when they call names. i usually show up to lottos later. (just make sure you are there by 6:27 to give you enough time to write your name, and and have a tiny but of wait time.
make sure you have a photo ID, and the cash for up to two tickets. other than that ti is really easy, good luck!

Posted: 7/12/10 at 2:31pmThanks guys. I assumed I would just go up to the Box Office and they'd instruct me. Didn't realize it was that simple. Have either of you done American Idiot and know what seats are being lotto'd off?

the front two rows, i personally prefer if i win in the sevond row. normally i am a front row junkie but at AI i spent my whole time in the front row afraid iw as going to be kicked in the head or have a cast member land in my lap... of course some might like the latter to happen...
and drunk chita rivera you went and changed your avatar and confused me for a moment! (ok several moments!)
(did i use later right? i am not great with grammar!)

Make sure you fold your paper to maximize the surface area to increase your chances of getting picked :)
And yes, the front row is scary and disgusting. Hopefully you are not a germaphobe because you'll have plenty of puddles of sweat/spit on you by the end of the show if you are in the front row. The fear of a body falling on you is in full effect as well.
Bonus: You may get a guitar pic at the end

I went last week. It wasn't as crazy as the regular lottery. However, it's still a lot of people. But if you lose the lottery, they normally have partial views for $37; it's the boxes and side orchestra.
