i like tamyra, i think she did really well in her tv acting appearances i saw her in on boston public and also on a couple other tv shows she has some acting talent!

i think with the right songs tamyra can shine, like her song on ai-1 'house is not a home' that was clearly the type of song she should be singing, so not sure what the music is like in Bombay dreams, but i very much prefer Tamyra over kelly clarkson any day of the week...no offense just honesty! to put it mildy kelly was the ball and chain acting wise that sunk the movie with justin he actually like tamyra can Act...lol...

congrats to tamyra i would like to see her find her niche and do well... getting away from idol and the diva image idol exect. like to project is i think the best thing for tamyra to do is quit 19 management!

hi jj! good to see you back on broadwayworld again .i have unfortunatly not seen tamyra's comercial but i think tamyra will do great when she takes the stage . tamyra i think has what it takes to be great in any area of show biz she does from her incredible beauty to her great voice and personality tamyra will shine.

Where did that come from? If you don't want anyone to think you're a fluffer, then why say it to those you think don't know its meaning. It makes absolutely no sense.

Everyone will tell you something different. I loved it and would go see it again in a heartbeat. If you are familiar with Bollywood films, then you will understand why the story seems a bit cliche and cheesy. It is intended. The score is catchy and memorable. The costumes and lighting are stunning. I had a wonderful time at this show.

just ignore anything that wickedfan2 say's she is one of those nasty justin guarini fans that has also attacked and harrassed me with that small justin fan group from justinshouse! they make it a habitt of bashing tamyra i have seen them do it on their boards!

not all justin fans are nasty, many from jmansworld are very nice...so justin fans are happy for tamyra many of them are!

JD...do you have anymore info. about this show or an article about it that describes the show more?

The girl is beautiful and extremely talented...i'd pay to see her in Bombay Dreams...hell, I bought her cd - this couldn't possibly be worse.

Tamyra Gray — of "American Idol" fame — makes her Broadway debut Nov. 9 in the Bollywood-themed musical Bombay Dreams at the Broadway Theatre.

Gray, who placed fourth in the first season of the hit TV singing competition, has been cast as Priya, the earnest film director, the role created on Broadway by Anisha Nagarajan. Gray will play a limited engagement of 12 weeks.

A.R. Rahman, the composer of Bombay Dreams, said in a statement, "I have been an admirer of Tamyra Gray from the start and am thrilled she's joined the Broadway company of Bombay Dreams. She's going to be wonderful."

Following her exit from American Idol, Gray was the first alumnus of the reality TV smash to attain crossover success, with appearances on TV's "Boston Public" and "Tru Calling." In May 2004, her album "The Dreamer" was released, featuring songs the singer had written or co-written.

The Broadway company also features the talents of Manu Narayan (as Akaash), Anjali Bhimani (as Rani), Sriram Ganesan (as Akaash's best friend Sweetie), Marvin L. Ishmael (as Madan), Deep Katdare (as lawyer and Priya's fiance, Vikram) and Yolande Bavan (as Akaash's grandmother, Shanti).

With music by A. R. Rahman, lyrics by Don Black and a revised book by Thomas Meehan and Myra Syal, Bombay Dreams tells the story of Akaash, a brash young slum-dweller who dreams of becoming a Bollywood movie star and meeting his idol, the voluptuous screen siren Rani. And wouldn't you know it, his dream comes true—but not without some personal costs and a good dousing in an on-stage dancing fountain.

Bombay Dreams opened at the Broadway Theatre April 29. Song titles include "Salaa'm Bombay," "Bollywood," "Love's Never Easy," "Lovely, Lovely Ladies," "Bhangra," "Shakalaka Baby," "I Could Live Here," "Is This Love?," "Famous," "Chaiyya Chaiyya," "How Many Stars?," "Hero," "Ganesh Procession," "The Journey Home" and "Wedding Qawali."

The Broadway Theatre is located at 1681 Broadway at 53rd Street. Tickets are priced $60-$100.

well Tamyra Break a leg and i hope she does enjoy herself also i'm sure she will do well!

she has acting talent, i saw her in the tv appearances! i also think with the right songs more like 'a house is not a home' songs that are very soulful that show off her voice she can also have more success in her music!

tamyra and justin got a raw deal and they both are very mulit talented! i think broadway is really a good place for tamyra and justin to move on with their careers!

i guess i will hang out more with tamyra fans since a hand full of justin fans won't leave me alone on this board! i'm glad tamyra fans are in general very nice fans!

hey break a leg... it's a bit exciting to see tamyra and soon justin to be on Broadway i still remember seeing them both for the first time on i-1 and i was soo impresssed and said those two kids are amazing talents

can't wait to hear more tonight i will stop by this thread! thanks to your friend who works at the show for the scooop!

i did talk to tamyra's sister once on Bolt boards long time ago, she was very nice!

has anyone seen tamyra yet? I'm thinking about seeing the show next week, I am a little nervous about seeing Tamyra in the show, I would've rather have seen a seasoned Broadway performer...

munkustrap178 had written a pretty good review in a thread that I guess has now been deleted. It must have gotten pretty mean at some point because there was a lot of talk about race in that thread so I guess that it may have gotten personal because one minute it was there and when I checked back later it was gone. I read munkustrap178's review before it was deleted and it wasn't a "good review", although munkustrap178 was desperately trying to be generous.

Basically, it said Gray pretty much sucked, but that she would probably get better with time.

Both me, my wife, and daughter(a 10 year old American Idol junkie) thought she was terrible when we saw her Bombay Dreams.
Just our opinion.

to be honest, her acting wasn't Tony worthy, but her singing and dancing made up for it.

Dancing? Priya doesn't dance in BOMBAY DREAMS.

Her keys were lowered beyond belief and she sounded wretched.

SPOILER* Priya doesn't dance till the last song!!! anyhow, as Munk says, Anjali Bhimani, the new Rani was amazing!!! and both Tamyra and Anjali had great chemistry with Manu.
